Morgan and Malibu, my breeding pair of peachfaced lovebirds had a clutch of 7 eggs. One hatched last night.

This'll be my first clutch ever.. but they've had one before with the breeder I got them from.

I'll be pulling them when the youngest is about 14 days old and handfeeding them.

Hard to see, but here the little booger is!

Here's mom and dad.

Mom is on the right and dad on the left.

A normal clutch is about 3-5 eggs. Her last clutch I was told she had 6.. and 3 of them hatched. So I'm only expecting 3 or so of them to hatch. The first ones that were laid have the best chance, since they were closest to when the breeding took place.

Thanks.

Red and Green are pretty common.

But was it a peachfaced lovebird or fischer lovebird? The fischers are more brightly colored.. usually a mix green and red and yellow.

Awww...congrats!
I love baby birds.
Don't forget to post lots of pics of them growing up.

Is this going to be your first time handfeeding? Its alot of hard work but you will love it.

Are you going to keep any?

My first time handfeeding a domesticated bird. I've raised orphaned starlings before.. but never a hookbeaked bird. Aldo 5 years of handfeeding kittens.
I hope that helps, but I know it's totally different. I also have the breeder I got this pair from behind me a 100% and will help me if I have any troubles.

I plan on re-homing them al, but I'm sure one will catch my heart.

So this afternoon another hatched. We are at three.

Here's some pictures I got when Mama came out to stretch her wings.

the oldest is at the top, then the middle child in the one with the full crop in the middle of all the eggs. then the baby is the one that looks like he's flapping his wings :p

Wow I can't believe the length of time in between them hatching - this is like christmas [or is that Easter
] watching them hatch.

Any more babies?

They should hatch every 2-3 days. Since they are laid every 2-3 days.

Movies like Fly Away Home or what have you, are pretty incorrect when all 12 eggs suddenly hatch.
They do hatch over a period of time.
