I was waking up by the gas fire one morning a couple of weeks ago and my pud got under my feet...I was wearing new shoes and the last 2-3cm of her tail got trodden on.
She made quite a noise but I thought it was because she pulled away and a lot of hair got pulled out, it became clear a few days later that the tip had broken, I've been putting antiseptic cream on the sore skin and judging by her personality you wouldn't know anything was wrong with her apart from the visible kink at the tip of her tail.
Yesterday though I noticed the tip looking darker and I had feel around, giving it a squeeze, she didn't indicate any feeling in it whatsoever.
My local vets clinic has a nasty habit of pumping my previous pets full of drugs and charging the earth for no obvious benefit so I'm wary of taking her in if she will recover on her own but I'd really like some advice from people with more experience.
