So I started my student teahing a few weeks ago, but soon... very very soon, I will actually be in front of the room doing the teaching, instead of walking around and observing! I'm sooooooo scared! lol Any advice, and/or vibes will be greaty appreciated!

LOL it's only been two years since I tormented my student teachers - I think just be calm, don't be afraid to be a little tough on them. For my history student teacher she played a game with us, which sort of broke the ice - even though she had been observing for 2 weeks! She also brought with her candy, so that helped.

Good luck!

You'll do just fine! Just be confident in yourself, and they'll follow your lead. If five foot little old me can take command of a class of freshmen college students so that they listen when I say quiet without having to raise my voice too much, you can definitely do it!

Have fun with what you're teaching, be excited about it, and show them the material in lots of different ways. And never ever be afraid to say "I don't know, but I'll figure it out for you!"

Lots of , you're going to do great!

I feel nervous every time I teach a new class. Just remember that you wouldn't be there if you weren't qualified, and try to enjoy it.
How old are your students?

be firm and strict and when they get the idea then you can soften up.
AND they will try to get to you...sooo do your best to either not let that happen OR show that it effects you and NEVER EVER give them an inch...students are like puppies or kittens they will try to push you to see how much they can get away with.

AND pratice a REALLY REALLY good death glare...its more effective then yelling. we call it "the look"

Thanks everyone! I don't know why I'm so nervous, I handled 125 3rd/4th year college students with no problem as a TA!

I've built up a pretty good raport with the kids during my two weeks of observations, I even know all the names of the kids in one of my classes... and about 1/3 to 1/2 of the other names.... just the thought of a full day of teaching in a HS when I've never done it before is just sooo overwhelming!!
