There is something fundamentally wrong with this idea.
We check out our own food at grocery stores, banks are now automated ATMs...
if this trend continues, we will each live in a bubble, rarely interacting with other people.
Hum....maybe that has a positive side...

On a positive note, they probably can't speak English any worse than the ones at our local McDonald's. or is it just that dang speaker that makes them all sound like the teacher from Charlie Brown?

Happening at a pizza place near me ... I put in a internet order for pizza on a sunday night... Wait time est was 2 HOURS .... I called a LOCAL number and ended up two states over /.. He luckily spoke english but forgot to say he was NOT my local shoppe

I have a home-bound disabled friend who is in the process of getting a job as a long-distance call center operator. So it may have a use - but as for off-shore links, forget it!

its sickening i work for the biggest student lender company in america, and pretty soon my office is going to be the only one in the US, everything else is in india or the phillipines. do you know how many complaints i get from people saying they are disgusted cause everytime they call they get connected to someone who barely speaks english and they are so thrilled to finally be speaking to an american!

I hate outsourcing, and wish our country would stop exporting jobs.

Same, and they wounder why so many people are in debt, being forclosed on, and the economy is dieing. Stop sending jobs away!

I like how the artical says that it is going to help accuracy The lady 10 feet away from me can't get my order right, how is someone over seas going to do any better?

This is without a doubt one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard! It's bad enough that you can't get a real person when you call your bank, phone company, a catalog order company, etc. What's it gonna be next? A call center in place of your vet or doctor's office?
