I find this so cute: Whenever I use a certain soap to wash with (pomegranate), Spliff has to insistantly groom me! no other soap seems to affect him, but this one he's obsessed with!

And oddly enough, when I eat a pomegranate, he has no interest in it! Not so much as a sniff!

Any one else have kitties obsessed with certain scented items? Soaps, lotions, etc?

I always thought that when your cat grooms you it's actually working to remove what scent you have.
Among my cats, the closest to what may be an obsession is when my Ni kisses me on the lips after I gargle with listerine mint flavored mouthwash.

I posted previously about Bonaparte licking the jasmine scented soap in my bathroom. None of the others do that, but if it is accessible he goes straight for it.

Crush always does it! He loves to groom my hair when I use the Aussie shampoos, and a certian olive oil leave in conditioner... cute, until he tries to take a bite out of my head! LOL

That's so funny!
I was just fixin' to say the same thing! My cats always try to lick at my hair if I use the Aussie shampoo or hairspray!

I can't say that I blame them for being attracted to the stuff. It smells awesome!
I wish they made an Aussie body mist or perfume!

In TX, but will always be a Michigan-boy.
When did they start making pomegranate soap? Wow, I've never ate one, let alone used one designed as a detergent.

I wish mine was like that, as he currently has a predilection to dust and dirt, thrown in with the occasional behind the toilet tour.

I was getting worried about Tabitha's obsession. A couple of weeks ago, she spoiled my bath ( which i had been looking forward to all day, long relaxing soak) by joining me in it! She was being chased by her sister and ended up in it with me! since then she keeps stealing the tube of STRAWBERRY bubble bath (which i what i had in the bath at the time) and hiding it in her bed!! ??

I have a big black cat named Archie who is obsessed with mens fragrances, and I say specifically mens fragrances because he only does this to me and not my wife.  Almost every day, when I get out of the shower in the morning, he rubs all over me and purrs, and throws himself around and rolls around on the ground like someone gave him catnip.  If I crouch down on the floor with him, he will either lick my hair, try to shove his snout in my armpit and burrow his whole head into there, or try to shove his snout into my hand.  He loves the smell of my soap, shampoo, and deodorant, but is not interested in womens fragrances at all, with the exception on this one hand sanitzer my wife uses.  Because he loves the smell of the soap I use (which is just plain Dial soap) so much, any time I make a circle with my fingers, like an "ok" sign, he shoves his snout into the hole to try to get a whiff of the soap smell.  Also, to add to his strange behavior, a few times when I have used Icy Hot or other menthol-based muscle creams or patches, he sniffs and rubs all over that spot on me and it makes him drool uncontrollably.  I don't know what it is about with him liking these scents, but it is both weird, and hillarious!

Too funny, what's up with that? Does your wife use Dial soap, too, but he leaves her alone? My cat Lily LOVES when my husband is working out and she tries to lick his sweat off of his skin. Maybe it's you, he likes the way YOU smell.

Welcome to TCS by the way, we'd love to see some pictures of Archie when you get a chance!

She uses fruity scented body wash, so only I use the dial bar soap...he doesn't like the "girly" scented fragerances, only the stuff I use, which is strange.  What makes it more strange is he is a momma's boy and usually gives her more of the love than me, except when I am getting out of the shower, then I am his favorite person!  Will be uploading some pics soon of Archie, as well as our other cats, Joe and Rocky.

Sugar loves the smell of Breakfree CLP,  which is a gun cleaner and lubricant.  I have to clean where she can't get at it, as it is toxic to cats.  I also have to use orange dish soap to wash my hands afterward, then use hand sanitizer to cover the smell of the CLP.
