Caspian is a big boy and not even a year old. I need to use both hands to pick him up so hes properly supported he's about 10 months old and weighs just over 2.5kg. (Im not sure that is different but I think hes bigger than average)! Anyway my big boy can get a little rough when hes playing. I don't mind, I can give him a sharp NO! and withdraw my attention from him and even that doesnt work i can scoop him up and shut him in the kitchen. It's just Nefertiti, Caspian isn't aggresive with her, no hissing, growling but he just seems to be playing rough. He will pounce on her and swipe her with his big paws, giving out a startled cry of distress from Nefertiti. Am I right in being worried? He nips her too some times in play and he nips me from time to time in play whitch I always reply to with a sharp noise of pain and my arms withdrawn from him and folded and my back and eyes away from him and he seems to get the message but he'll do it again whenever he gets excitable. To be honest I have just accepted this is the way he is. A typical lad and I don't really mind it as I can deal with his bravado but I do mind if he could potentially be a danger to tiny Nefertiti! When my other three cats where here he was rough with them too but they wern't so small. Vienna he was suprisingly gentle with her and very fatherly (oh how I wish he could be that way with Nefertiti)! Chantilly, I am sure he had the hots for her he would chase her a little menacingly but would always end up getting hissed at and batted on the head and he would soon behave himself. Chantilly never stood for any messing about! He was rough with Tiramisu though I some times had to seperate them and tried not to leave them together. He would leap on her or chase her around and land on her and bite her neck (though he wasn't sinking his teeth in just nipping) but it was rough and poor Tiramisu was a little startled and shocked! Tonight Nefertiti was sitting infront of the fire (shes getting very brave now)!
Caspian started pawing her and she hissed and then he landed on her and nipped her neck. She let out a terrible cry, Caspian fled under the sofa and Nefertiti rushed under the cupboard and then had an accident on the carpet. I've cleaned her up and put her back in the bathroom. I'm just not really sure what I should do? If indeed there is anything I can do? What I was doing earlier was distracting Caspian with a fishing rod toy and that worked but I cant sit around dangling that all day! :p We had a lovely morning. Nefertiti sat with me and Caspian sat in the armchair in the same room. It's just when he gets playful, he gets dominant. He is nuetered and is 10 months old. Any advice..? I'm even wondering tonight if my home is the best home for Nefertiti...

typical dominance behavior. Chip does this to Pixel on occasion - she's NEVER happy about it, & definitely lets him know it!
