The end of Feb. I will be gone for 4 days. I have no one to care for these 30 cats.

i bought 2 large water containers to leave for them... hoping as I posted before they do not freeze.

Instead of leaving food in the trays that I fill daily I was just going to take a load of food and leave it in the woods for them (where they eat anyway).

I didnt just wnat to leave it on the ground... would you guys suggest a plastic, paper bag.... anything like that?

Thanks - i know doing this isnt the best option -but its the only option I have

thanks a lot...

I live in the No. Va area near DC.
Suggestion:

Get one or 2 dark colored trash cans (square kind) that you can lie flat on the ground.

Get some medium deep but wide rubbermaid/tupperwear containers
for food storage - the kind you use in the fridge - you can get at any supermarket and they can be the thin disposable/reusable kind.

Fill the containers with food (should have about 4 or 5 deep ones)

Put 3 out in the open, put 2 (one in each garbage can). The ones in
the garbage cans will be protected if it rains or snows. The ones in
the open will get eaten by birds and cats, but not the ones in the gargabe
cans... that's what I use for my ferals with sno & rain - I put a large
rubbermaid/tupperwear full of dry chow (I can fit 3 lbs in it) inside
a trash bin (square 28 gallon sized) that I've laid on the ground.

The food stays dry, the birds don't eat it, and I worry less during
ice and rain storms when I can't get out to feed them.

Hugs...
