I posted in the daily thread about some small animal being caught by a bird of prey. When Neil came home from work we walked out to the spots I noticed this morning.
The blood had soaked into the snow but he pointed out that it was a bird of prey as you can definately see the wing/feather marks in the snow.
Still don't know what bird it was-we do have great horned owls living down my the creek though and red tailed hawks also (but I haven't seen those for months).

To bad there wasn't a couple of feathers left behind to help with identification. We have both Great Horned Owls and Red Tailed Hawks here as well and I would hazard to guess it was most likely a Great Horned Owl. The Red-tails seem more geared towards, mice, chipmunks and squirrels, also game birds like partridge, or quail where as the Owls focus more on the Rabbits, and Ground Hogs. Either way those bunnies better think twice before gnawing your raspberry bushes again.
