I guess the Hip Hop Ball and being with Hollywood elite was more important than going to the ball that the Congressional Medal of Honor recipients attended, the, "Salute to Heroes".

Niiiice, real nice. I find this pathetic. Funny how the drive by's aren't reporting this snub. NOT

President Thanks Veterans For Service During Inaugural Ball
By Sgt. 1st Class Doug Sample, USA
American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, Jan. 21, 2005 – President Bush and first lady Laura Bush were greeted with resounding cheers as they made the first stop of their whirlwind tour of inaugural galas Jan. 20 at the Capital Hilton here.
At the "Salute to Heroes" inaugural ball, hundreds of veterans from across the country, along with their wives and families, greeted the president with a resounding show of support.

Vice President Richard Cheney and his wife, Lynne, stopped in later as they made their way through the inaugural circuit.
Looks like it happened 4 years ago, but President Bush and Vice President Cheney though it important enough to show up.

Well, the other inugural balls were so much more hip. Featuring modern songs by artists Jay-Z and Young Jeezy.

In case anyone dares to watch the video, you can find a link for it online I'm sure.

How many of these Obama things do you post. Goodness Gracious.

The Obamas hosted the first annual Kids concert on Monday night to honor the military AND thier families by including not just the service men but thier wives and children as well. They went to the Commander in Chief Ball where they had made sure not to just invite the heads of the military but the enlisted men, purple heart recipients and families with members in active harm's way. They had a specific section in thier preinaugural for the military.

It was not news that the Obama's were not going to this ball the list of balls they were attending were set a long time ago. The organizers knew this a long time ago. No one was waiting for the Obama's to show up. The Obama's are celebrating the military in thier own way. I am sure there are going to be people that did not like that he went to this particular ball but he did not snub the military. He just celebrated them in a way that does not appeal to you or others. I personally am glad they did something for the military little ones.

Every President of the United States since 1953, when the, "Salute to Heroes"
Inaugeral Ball was instituted saw fit to attend the ball which honor, no less
than Medal of Honor Recipients.

IMO, it doesn't get any more important than that.

But Barack WAS able to rub elbow's with Hollywood, who gave him millions so that is the most important thing I'm sure

So are you saying an entire concert honoring the military and military families means nothing nor does the Commander in Chief Ball. He snubbed the military entirely?

He snubbed the Medal of Honor Recipients. They just happen to be, the cream of the crop.

So your premise is he snubbed the MOH holders and not the whole military. I would think a whole concert dedicated to military families is not a snub in fact it takes in account the often forgotten piece of the military, the family. They are just as important as the military men and women who put thier lives on the line for us and we need to take better care of them. I applaud him for taking notice. The have toiled without alot of recognition for hundreds of years. Every part of the military deserves recognition at some point, this year it is the family getting some recognition.

I don't think he is worried about rubbing elbow's with Hollywood, them seem to be willing to go wherever he does.

I feel that if he took time to rub elbow's with the Hollywood elite there was time to attend the Salute to Heroes Inaugeral Ball, the same as every POTUS has attended since the Heroes ball was instituted in 1953. That is all I am saying, it is a matter of priorities, to me, the Medal of Honor Recipients are high up on the list of priorites. Much higher than Hollywood.

I thought he did a good mix of military, home states, the youth vote that got him there, and the neighborhoods that elevated him. It would have been nice if he got to the heroes ball but I don't think it was a deliberate snub. I would rather see him revamp the Vetrans Affairs than be concerned about an Inaugural Ball. I send Eric Shinseki much luck and many good wishes on his new duties.
