We adopted Ginger to hopefully get a playmate for Trent. He's always wanted to play a LOT more than Ophelia, who just isn't that into the whole "play" thing, and definitely doesn't want to roughhouse with him.

Ginger had/has a major kitty-crush on Trent. She just thinks the world of him and wants to snuggle with him more than play. They will play chase, sometimes, but that's about as far as it goes.

"This one's too clingy, Meowmy."

Mojo was adopted as my husband's choice. Somehow she turned into my kitty anyway.
She acts like a boy kitty - there is nothing feminine about that cat!
But she plays REALLY rough. I think she was taken from her fur-family too soon and doesn't understand that she's being rude in kitty terms.

"This one's too rough, Meowmy."

Then Annie came home. She was supposed to be a foster; we totally failed as a foster home! She's a tiny little thing with the stance and walk of a bulldog, and she is one tough little girl. This morning she ran straight up to Trent (who is twice her size, but wouldn't hurt a fly...well, maybe a fly if he could catch it), flopped over in front of him, reached up and put him in a headlock.
He obliged by nipping and biting at her tummy, and next thing you know they are full-on wrestling. This is exactly what Trent has wanted for 9 years!

"This one's just right, Meowmy. We can keep her!"

That's sweet, Heidi.
A good lesson for people who think "a cat is a cat is a cat".

So true. I tell potential adopters when they ask, "will my cat like this cat... will the new cat like my resident cat?" My answer is, I don't know. May or may not, may take time... do YOU like everyone YOU meet ... or like them instantly? I get the ..."Uh, no..." Response.... I say, same for kitties.

Awww that's adorable!

I had that with my foster cats. Most either wouldn't play or played too rough for Riley's taste. Xander plays very rough. Riley usually starts it, but after a few minutes of getting thumped he wants to quit

I find it fascinating (especially when there was 4 of us) to see how each cat reacted to the other. Chantilly didn't like Caspian but he had the hots for her and followed her around only to be batted on the head and hissed at. He quickly submitted and ran off. However as for Tiramisu, Caspian couldn't care less and liked to play "target practice" with the poor darling. He'd clamber onto the back of a chair and land on her, letting out a "MMMEOW!" cry from poor Tira. Then there was Vienna, Caspian seemed to dote on tiny Vienna. He would wash her behind her ears and seemed to take on more of a fatherly role with her. So what is Caspian like with other cats?
well that would be impossible to tell you! I love the word Meowmy I am going to remember that

I kinda feel like Trent is in Goldylocks & the 3 Bears. This one's too hot. This one's too cold. This one's just right.

It makes me so happy to see Trent and Annie wrestling around and chasing each other...and it really being reciprocal. Ginger chases Trent, but that's more like the kids on the playground "I'm gonna make you KISS me when I catch you!"

Trent finally has his playmate. Only took us to 5 cats to get there.
Oh well.

Aww bless!
That's good news to hear Trent has found the perfect playmate at long last...and yes it does sound like Goldilocks and the Three Bears story
But cute all the same...
