I feel for you! I have severe allergies to everything I love, animals, plants, the out doors.........Sinusitis is like a cold to me, and it always comes with bronchitis! The only sure medication that has completely wiped out my major sinus, middle ear, and bronchial infections is Zithromax, good stuff!

ugggg. I get sinus infections way too easy. I got my first one ummm about 4yrs ago from work
OMG, it was horrible... I had never had one before. Then it started, I got 2-3 every yr up untill this present winter. I started taking a supplement, and knock on wood, aside from a couple minor 2day colds, I haven't gotten a sinus infection, strep, or bronchitis
I can't remember the last time I did NOT have bronchitis or a lung infection. I had pnemonia one year, that went too long without being diagnose (moron dr said it was bronchitis, I ended up going to the ER a wk later) and since then, plus the fact that I smoke, I usually get that too.

re: the dizziness. I found the decongestants made me dizzy if I took them as often as I could.... as well, the pressure also made me dizzy. I ended up taking (as per Dr. recommendations) a tablet of gravol for it, and it helped alot.

I hope you feel better soon.

If you are taking something like sudafed your sinus's could be took dry making symptoms worse.
I would pick up a neti pot and start a nasal rinse twice/day. The first couple of times you have to get your head in the correction position (you'll know!). You should have a bit of relief the first time.
When my allergies start acting up or now this time of year when despite the humidifers running the house is dry I start up with the neti pot.
Hope you are feeling better soon.

I have been using a nasal rinse, but honestly don't feel that much difference from it this time around. Oh well.

So my ears are feeling more plugged up, a bit harder to hear, and I'm getting a bit of chest congestion.

At the doctor's today, she took a look at my ears, and wrote me a prescription for a decongestant/expectorant, with pseudoephedrine in it, even though I told her that I hate pseudoephedrine medications because of all the side effects it has on me.
Oh well, I'll give it a go. She doesn't think I need more antibiotics, so we'll see. Still have headaches, pressure in my head, and getting flushed doing not so strenuous things.

Hopefully this works out - haven't been to work all week!

Have you considered seeing an ENT?
I know what you mean about the drugs. I feel that way about sudafed but I can handle pseudoephedrine.

If I'm still having trouble after this weekend, I might at least see if I can get in with my allergy/asthma specialist. Not quite the same, but I'd get better attention than at the campus clinic. The doctors there are hit and miss, but its paid for by my student fees already. Specialists are much more expensive, and with my insurance, I think I would have to be referred first.

With any luck, I'll be better soon and won't need to go there!

^ I wish you could get in a little sooner, for all the reasons already pointed out. You don't drive do you? If you normally do, I suggested you don't right now.

I haven't been driving - got my friends to drive me to and from the clinic and store today.

Well, don't have a humidifier, but I have been keeping a tea kettle going, so that ought to help a teensy bit. Drinking lots though!

The dizziness is better today - I can at least sit up for an hour or so before I start feeling off again, so that's an improvement!

Sorry that you're still feeling so bad...You can also try gargling with ginger water (just put some powdered ginger in a glass of very warm water & gargle - just be prepared- it really breaks off the "gunk" lining your throat and often your sinuses will begin draining as well). And if you swallow some of the ginger water, no worries - it settles the tummy

You might also try nibbling on crystallized ginger while you are lying down.
Ginger was the only thing that helped my brain-damaged daughter with the dizziness that was post-Western Equine encephalitis ("sleeping sickness") and it out performed prescription suppositories, oral meds & meds delivered via I.V. She and I use it habitually now, and have had great success treating others with it.
Continuing to send healing prayers and vibes

Well, I had an appointment with my hematologist today, and told him about how I'm still getting headaches and feeling light-headed now (not quite the same as the dizziness before, but still not fun), etc. He wrote me another prescription for antibiotics, that dad says are about 15 bucks a pill!
Thank goodness for health insurance!

Ended up having to work over the weekend, and almost a full day today, though I really wanted to stay at home. My boss has an important presentation on Wednesday, and of course, I'm the only one who can put the data together in time.
Almost done though - might be able to leave early tomorrow if I'm still not feeling well.

Hopefully this round does the trick - I'm tired of feeling sick!!

Oh, Pam - -I was really hoping that you'd be over this by now
I've had to deal with inner ear infections & boy, oh, boy, it is such misery
It's kinda like the non-stop morning sickness that I'd get when preggers, but at least, you'll get over this alot sooner & even at $15/pill, you'll be saving money $$

I'm sorry this is such a slow process!
Please, wear a mask on the plane, to help fend off any reinfection from the miserable recycled air on board...

Okay, two weeks after first being ill, and I am mostly up to snuff again! Got my blood results in from several tests, and they all look good (finally!)

Still tiring out really fast, but that will just take some time. Minnesota, here I come!

Thanks very much for all the vibes - they were much much appreciated!
