So here I am 2 days before my due date and my Mom calls me to criticize the spelling of the name Eric and I have had picked out for the last 5months! As if I am not under enough stress woundering if I have everything, if it's all ready, if I am ready. She decideds that she needs to call and tell me how she doesn't like the spelling of are name.

We have had Jaiden picked out for a long time. When I first found out I was pregnent I just knew it was a boy and went and look at boys names and fell in love with it. Eric likes it alot also, we batted arround many other names to make sure this is the one we wanted to pick, but there was not any that we both really liked.

My mom would rather I spell it Jayden, but I think that is a more girly spelling. She thinks that people are going to pronunce it wrong, but I don't really see how... I know Jayden and Jaden are the more popular spellings of the name, but I don't really like either.

Should I just shrug it off or does she have a point?

to the grandma and to the mom to be

I wish I could argue with my mom about baby names

I like the way you guys picked to spell it and it is your choice, you and your significant other, but go ahead and let your mom give her input. it is an exciting time after all and everyone that cares about you wants to give advice and be a part of this right?

I like the way you guys have it spelled. Let her have her moment now, because when that baby boy is born, the spelling won't matter
Congratulations!

If you're lucky you will get a good nights sleep in about six months. There is no right or wrong way to spell someone's name. After the babies born and she holds it the first time she will forget all about how his name is spelled.

My Mom didn't like the way I spelled Zoey's name and this is my cat
She thought it should be spelled Zoe with a hyphen over the e. You got to love them!!!!

I know how you feel!! My son's name is Greyson, and we took forever to decide whether we wanted to spell it with an "e" or an "a". We also knew right away what we wanted to name him, but the spelling bugged us. We got opinions for everyone, and finally decided to use an "e". As soon as my mom heard our choice of spelling she had to call and give us a hard time about it. "Grey is spelled with an "A", don't you know that??" *Sigh*

Spell it how you want to. She had her chance to have babies and choose their names, now it is YOUR turn. Like someone else said, once the baby is born it won't matter to her how his name is spelled. I don't think my mom has brought up Greyson's spelling since he was born. If she did I've gotten so used to ignoring her I didn't notice. LOL

My friend and her Mother argued for 6 months over the spelling of her son's name Jaxson. Her mother insisted it should be spelled Jackson. As soon as he was born the argueing was forgotten. A happy healthy baby was all teh mattered.

Thank you
I think Mom just wants to put her 2cents into everything I do in life, but now really isnt the time to stress me out over the spelling of MY child's name
I have other things to worry about... like squeezing a watermellon out of a hole the size of a lemon
