Can you believe all the people on the mall for the inauguration already. It is still three hour to go and it looks like it is filling up. I stepped outside and brrrrrrr. I know those people are cold.
I know! I watched the ceremony first at home then at school they had the TV's on so the students could watch. As I was walking out the door my fiance had it on in the living room and I stopped and made the comment "you know I think the guy on the left looks like his is freezing his
off!!"
My fiance totally agreed and started to laugh when the guard to the right just gave the guy on the left a glare.

Hey!! I'm making beef stew also!

I am not baking anything but this is a wonderful and happy day for me. Finally a President we can be proud of and he speaks well too. Good luck to President Barack H. Obama.

I got into work at exactly noon and the whole conference room was filled with people watching it on the big screen.....the executive director included. I think there were maybe two people here who decided not to watch.

I quietly edged in, and realized I hadn't missed the oath of office.....very happy I got to see that.

By the way, Justice Roberts screwed up the oath when he was giving it to Obama, so I think Obama hesitated because he wasn't sure if he should say it the right way, or the way Justice Roberts said it. Weird moment, though.

Anyhoo, most of the office sat and listened to the speech, applauding and crying along with the crowds there. It was very cool.

Can't wait for the coverage of the inaugural balls tonight. I have a friend who is singing at one of them - the one that the state of Pennsylvania is throwing - hope the President and Michele stop by that one....maybe I'll get to see my friend Roo!!!

I had my headphones on all morning listening to NPR. Then, just as Obama arrived, someone came up and had an urgent project
Luckily, I could work on it after the inauguration, but I missed Obama arrive

I'm working from home today, so I took a break to watch it. They had a TV set up in the Cafe at the office, too.

I was born in the Chicago area literally in the middle of the race riots. My Dad talks about watching it all on TV in the waiting room. I'm amazed and proud of how far we've come in my lifetime.

I think a pie is definitely in order to celebrate...maybe apple.

It was a great day. I have to say though I am a little disappointed on how far behind they got with the parade. Someone should have some explaining to do about that.

You're younger than I am and I remember them first hand. I was born in Hyde Park (Obama's Chicago area home), and grew up about a mile from where Michelle grew up. I lived in the middle of some of the riots and actually watched some of them break out in front of my home. I recall my mom pushing us on the floor in our living room by the head when the guns came out. Our neighbor's house was burned. The high school cancelled a lot of things due to the racial tension at that time (including my sister's prom).

Someone was holding a sign at the inauguration that said "We have overcome". It sent a chill down my spine. We're clearly not color blind yet, but we've come such a long way.

I'm watching the parade and looking for a Kansas City band that we saw a few months ago at a wedding.

Since I have a projector in my classroom, I had all 3 of my classes (62 students) in my room watching the Inauguration from 10am-Noon. It was such a precious moment in time.
The kids will remember this for the rest of their lives!

I watched the inauguration starting at 8:45 this morning; I'm a happy American today! Our daughter wanted to watch Obama give his speech but had to leave for school. Her teacher wanted the class to watch his speech but he couldn't find a cable to hook up the TV.
It would have been really great for her classmates to hear Obama's speech... Sometimes there are derogatory comments made about Americans at her school. It is hurtful even though she is a dual citizen.

I watched his speech again after school so she could see it.

I came in at noon today so I watched the festiivities on TV. I had to leave in the middle of the benediction. I wonder if people are out celebrating. Even for early in the semester, the library is quiet tonight.
