Did you hit the "start" button? It should initially look like a negative

"regular" color, or like a negative?

OK - I've opened & closed it a few times - and once it was like a negative (like turqouise & pink, etc). The first time though, it was different colors?

BTW - my brain doesn't work for those things - it never changed color no longer how long I stared.

It's not exactly an optical illusion and nothing is supposed to change color. It's retina burn in from staring at something. Ever stared at a light bulb then looked away and saw blue-ish green spots? Same thing.

I thought this was something everyone learned back in middle or even grade school?
Does no one remember looking at the picture of a yellow, turquoise, and black American flag then looking at a white piece of paper and seeing it in the right colors?

That said, it really didn't work for me either because I blink a lot due to dry eye. (staring too long without blinking hurts)

I think it's really cool. I uploaded a picture of mine and did it to that too. Cool in a magical, yet scientific, way, lol

I stared at it, and it went from Colour to a black and white picture. I watched the picture changed right before my eyes like a slide show. I think that was more what it was. Also, when I looked away from the black and white picture, it did not change back to the original picture.

i tried it twice. 1st time, did as directed - pic changed to color.
2nd time, didn't look - pic changed anyway, but to black & white.

You're supposed to stare at the black dot the whole time. Yes, the picture changes, but it changes from a "negative" to a black and white, but if you keep staring at the dot, the black and white picture will look like color to your eyes.

It changed to a black and white picture both times...the first time you did it correctly, and so the picture seemed to be in color. It wasn't. It was black and white.

If anyone is still confused as to what they're looking at, it's called after image, you can learn more about how this is possible by reading up on cone cells and how the eye works.

I was about to fall asleep the other night and couldn't remember the exact name for it. On the first link is the American flag I referred to.

As for it being fun, science is fun.
