I'm just getting my feet wet in the world of caring for ferals. I've volunteered to help manage an existing colony of about 20 ferals. They've already been neutered.

The question I have is about whether it is possible to add a new feral or two to an existing colony. One of the things I had hoped for was that if I ran across a feral or two at some other location that I could get it/them neutered and then release them into the colony I'm helping to manage. But the people who currently manage the colony says it doesn't work to add a newcomer to a colony, that the existing ones will chase it off. Does this jibe with what you guys have experienced?

That is correct. You must be careful when adding ferals to ferals. Sometimes it works, most times it does not work, and the new feral is driven off by the current exisiting ones.
