Sources of meat for raw

Is it possible to use wild sources of venison and rabbit for raw or is that discouraged?

My husband is a hunter and hunts on his fathers property each year and usually gets a deer.

I fed some wild duck a friend gave me and that her husband had shot but I froze it for 3 weeks to kill bacteria and parasites. Freezing in an at home freezer isn't a 100% sure way to kill bacteria though. I wouldn't feel comfortable feeding home killed on a regular basis but I can't say I know there is any real risk to it.

Hubby and I are both very interested in trying some raw with the boys so I'm really trying to research--I'm not sure how our vet will feel about it so I want to have lots of information to back myself up.
