Hi guys, I couldn't really find a thread addressing the issue we're having with a 12 year old red tabby my dad has.

Dad is taking him to the vet anyway because he has put on alot of weight in a short amount of time and has been drinking alot of water, so we're concerned about diabetes or kidney issues, even though his last vet visit he was given a clean bill of health.

However, he is lying down on the desk near me and I looked at the bottom of his feet. The pads of his paws are flaking and cracked. Kind of like how a humans feet look if you don't scrub your feet down once in awhile, or almost like athletes foot? They don't seem to be bleeding or weeping, and they don't seem to be painful, he's letting me play with his paws. I've never seen anything like this before, anyone have any ideas as to what might cause this? I'd put up a picture but I can't get a good one.

It does not sound like kidney failure.
I have a Crf cat right now and have had other cats with kidney failure.
They all lose weight.
It does sound like it could be Diabetes though.
I know in people their feet will crack and stuff from diabetes.
My dad has it and has problems with his feet.
See what the vet says.
