Bringing the new cat home...

I am getting a Maine Coon soon and was wondering if it would be more appropriate to pick him up and bring him home first, then get him neutered; or, schedule his appointment, pick him up and take him to the vet, then take him home afterward. He is 6 months old.

I'd bring him home and the set up the neutering (am surprised the breeder didn't already have him done) in a week or so.

personally I would want the cat altered ASAP before allowing an intact male into my home, even if that meant I picked kitty up and dropped kitty off at the vet. Plus, it would be nice for the vet to look over kitty before bringing a new kitty into my home at 6 months of age from a source that didn't neuter him before placement before letting him roam my home. that is just me though

Well, I talked to the breeder about it. She said that his line has never previously sprayed, even the studs are not known to be notorious sprayers. They suggested to get him neutered between 7-9 months for the hormones, he is a maine coon which grow for 3-5 years.
