As soon as I start to peel an orange he comes running from wherever he is. Now that I've learned it's not harmful I don't mind giving him little samples. I just want to know if anyone else has a cat like this or is he the only one?...

Hi, sadly your not the only one! I was having problems with tabitha for a few weeks when i first bought her home, the usual getting into places i didn't want her to etc. Someone told me to put orange peel down,(Beacause cats hate the smell) where i wanted het not go,ie: under the display unit. So off i went and bought some oranges and sat an peeled them and then i placed them around the floor. I could't belive what i was seeing! She picked them up and started playing with them, then picked up the biggest in her mouth an ran off with it and hid it! Her sister,Daisy, can't stand the smell, she screws up her face at them!

Mine dont really like oranges, but Holly loves all other fruit. I can hardly eat a plum or apple without her trying to eat it out of my mouth!

Meowers- My cat doesn't really seem to care for apples but I'm gonna have to see if he likes plums
I actually just started peeling another orange a few minutes ago and I was attacked again. He came running upstairs and sprinted over to where I was like he didn't want to miss out on an orange snack. He definitely gets his vitamin C (LOL)!!!

I see this is an old thread. Still, I want to contribute. I have three kitties. Two of them wouldn’t touch an orange if their lives depended on it. The third one, however, accosts me every time i start to peel my favorite fruit. I read that the essential oils in oranges can cause serious harm. Has anyone had a cat get sick from ingesting the fruit of an orange? I know he likes it...I just want to make sure he stays healthy.
