Ok...so now no one believes that I'm not a cat person. If you remember, a couple of years ago I adopted 3 all black TNR feral female cats. Well, someone forgot to tell them they were feral. They love coming into the house and getting special food, and they are always up for hugs and kisses. Now our place has become home to 3 new toms. (yes they are going to be TRN and brought back to my place). One has been coming around for about 2 years. Everytime he would see us he would bolt. Well, the other day I notice that he had been in a fight, and all I could think of was I hoped the other guy looked worse. I wasn't even sure he still had one of his eyes, it was so bad. Well, 4 days ago, he came in to the barn to eat,(not knowing I was still there), and was so busy eating he didn't see me come into the tack room. I started petting him, and boy did he jump. The thought of food must have been too much because he went right back to eating, so I started petting him again. He was waiting for me later in the day for the next feeding, and by that night he was my best friend. The next day he let me try to clean up his wounds. He does have his eye, it's just his 3rd eyelid that was so swollen. I'm picking up an extra large trap tomorrow, then taking him in to be fixed. I'll be paying extra for the wound repair, but he deserves it. Of course, being an old time vet tech, I don't touch any other animal until I've cleaned up. I don't know what he may have, but I'm not going to spread it. After I get him fixed up, there are 3 more males that are going to be fixed. I think they are reading the FREE FOOD sign that must be up. Oh well, between dogs, cats and my horses, I'm sure the neighbors will start talking before long.
