Not to be disrespectful John, but every American should care. Obama has a tough row to hoe and it will be difficult to undo years of bad decisions by the former government. I don't think he'll save the world but I'll bet he'll give it his best shot.
But here's the problem. What may look like "bad decisions" today may turn out to be necessary decisions. It's hard to know that, now.
To put it in perspective, the President who left office with the next lowest approval ratings was Harry Truman. Why? Because he was regarded as too stupid to be President. He was a very poor public speaker. He had a southern accent. He had very little leadership experience before becoming President. He was responsible for dropping the atomic bombs on Japan. And he left us embroiled in a seemingly endless Asian war that ended up killing some 45,000 American soldiers (10 times the casualties of the Iraqi war), not to mention over 1,000,000 soldiers of other nations. And that war was never actually ended, with casualties on an ongoing basis for the U.S., South Korea, and North Korea even today.
And yet today Truman is a highly regarded President.
So, before you make your decision, it might be a good idea to let, oh, say, 40 years pass.
