Hello, new here. I have a 17 year old (Callie), and a 1 and a half year old (Lily). Cats of course =P. Both are declawed and spayed. I rescued them this way. I've had Callie for 15 years and Lily half a year.
I am thinking about adding another cat to the family for a few reasons:
1. Lily is sometimes too rough for Callie and I am hoping a new, younger cat will play with Lily more to relieve the stress on Callie.
2. I know a friend who has 2 cats (i'm taking one) that were found stray, but seemed house broken. and are very loving.
So the Male: He is less playful, but loves to play, just not as much as his sister. He will come to you if you call. Slightly bigger than the female.
the Female: She is really playful. She normally won't come to you if you call, but if you give another cat attention, she of course has to come get some too!
Both are spayed/neutered. Not declawed, but I am trimming and buying those "Soft Paw" things.
Now my dilemma. I have heard Mixing stories on things. I have always had 2-3 spayed female cats in my house (just what i ended up rescuing).
I have heard too many females can be a bad thing as one might try and shoot for dominance and little squalls can happen. I have also heard, they are more likely to spray. But not so much if spayed.
Males, I have only had a male cat when I was younger, and never had responsibilities for him, except kitty litter duty (from age 9-14 or so, now 26). From what i've been told, they tend to leave the females alone. And only spray if they sense another male.
Lastly, from their personalities/ your experience, which do you think would best fit our family? It's a decent sized house, so lots of room either way. Thanks!
