I will be the first to admit I dont really understand all the " in depth " stuff about cat food ..

I have been feeding " gypsy " Nutro product since she was a kitten ....

she is a indoor cat .. and i initially tried her on " indoor " and she didnt really like it .. so we went to " MAX CAT ADULT ROASTED CHICKEN "

she is 3 years old and around 14 lbs .. the vet said he woudl like to see her around the 10 - 11 lb area ...

is there a " con " to MAX CAT " WEIGHT CONTROL " ... or should i just try and limit the food ?

i would like to stick with Nutro since it does seem to agree with her and she has a little bit of a touchy stomach ...

The con in 99.9% of wt controls is instead of raising protein and lowering carbs while keeping decent fat ... they raise the carb s DRASTICALLY lower fat and often drop protein...

Cats are carnivores...

If memory serves your feeding ( IMHO a decent premium) a 32% protein and 18 fat food ... while the light fat goes down to 10- 13%... this mean up to 8% more carbs that cats do not need ...

Are you feeding to the 11 lb guideline>>?? Do you know how much your feeding a day?? 1/2 cup is about ave for a 8-12 lb cat...

Have you thought about canned food?? It gives extra moisture ( a great thing as most cats do not drink enough), it fills without many calories or carbs and overall is good to be at least a part of a solid kitty diet

yes she actually eats " wet " food in the morning

she gets a little " wet " in the morning .. basically enough for 1 feeding .. and then around 5 pm she gets dry food to self feed on ....

I would like to stick with a little wet and a little dry ......

figure out how much you are feeding at night
... if feed half wet half dry ... for her ideal size likely 1/4 cup of dry should be enough ( double check with the vet )with the wet in the morning... is it 3 oz wet??

This is just my own experience.

I have two cats that are about 10 lbs. They were eating Nutro MAX cat chicken and MAX cat wet. They were maintaining their weight eating 1/3 cup dry and 1.5 wet each day. They are about 2 years old

yes its about 3 oz of wet in the morning

and then she self feeds dry food from about 5 pm until 11 pm ... i take the food away at night before going to bed .. so she does not eat during the night ...

so basically the opinion of everyone is not just try and cut back on food /? ??? rather than go wieght control
