My question today pertains to reading material.

Which is your favorite type of reading material, fiction, or non-fiction?

I use to read a lot of fiction, my favorite authors being Stephen King, Clive Barker, and Anne Rice.
However, because of my interest in history, and trivia I have switched over to more non-fiction the last few years. I recently finished "Russia When it Was An Empire" which was a fantastic book. I also love mythology and really enjoy reading about different cultures from that aspect but, I guess that would have to be classified as half and half.

On the west side of... of... somewhere.
I actually have more non-fic than fiction in my collection, but when I want to kick back with a book, I pick up fiction. The non-fic is there for reference, mostly. Sometimes, I just want to know what happened at XX time in history, or what types of research has been done on Mars, or what Sheep is in German... or Klingon. Which, by the way, there isn't a word for it in Klingon... so I assembled one... muaahaahaa!!!

These days I will read just about anything. I used to be so narrow minded when it came to reading material, but over the last 5 or 6 years I've opened up my mind to a larger range of both fact and fiction. I often request a book from the library based on having seen someone mention the book or author on a forum, or from having watched a documentary on something on TV.

That being said, my absolute favourite novels to read are fiction based FBI / CIA / Cop thrillers.

I usually read fiction - mysteries - but lately I have started reading more non-fiction. I recently read Barbara Walters's "Audition." I have to say, I didn't really like her after I read it.

non-fiction!

I love the books you would be ask to read in college classes!

I love books on social issues, anthropology, health, self-help books (because some are REALLY funny), History, world affairs, etc.

I LOVEEEE Memiors and Biographrys I just think reading about REAL people and their Lives is soo much more interesting then ficition.

My favorite books of all time are about Submarines!

When it comes to ficition...I am a SOFTIEE for OLD Sci-fi. I used to read alot of fiction when I was younger but I haven't found any sci-fi writers that are as good as the older ones so I switched to non-fiction. EVEN though Orson Scott Card's Ender's series was awesome.

I am such a book worm!

I read fiction almost exclusively, but I've found that as I get older
I find myself getting more interested in non-fiction

I read more fiction, but I also enjoy a lot of non-fiction as well. I've read a lot of books on the Holocaust, Mafia, serial killers, etc. (The library probably has their eye on me
). If I come across book on a topic I am interested in that's non fiction, I'll definitely read it.
