I cane home from work today to a note on my door. My neighbor had one too. It seems they are going to replace the plumbing in our apartment beginning Monday thru Friday of next week. We need to remove all items from under the bathroom and kitchen sinks, no problem. Around and on the toilet which is a nuisance since the girls' litterbox is next to the toilet. All the stuff in the tub area. But the biggest thing is I need to completely take everything out of my walk-in closet! Now that is a big inconvenience since I have so much in there, and nowhere to put it! I am going to have to put the litterbox in the kitchen too!

I wouldn't have minded all that much, but we only have 2 days to do all this stuff and I wanted to relax this weekend. They should have given us more notice!

Certainly an inconvenience but personally I would be thrilled to get new plumbing. Often apartment dwellers have to fight for things like that.

Ugh...I feel your pain. Our apt. complex changed owners this past summer and it seems like every week there has been a note on the door stating they will be entering our apartment or changing this or that. First it was new electronic locks on the doors, then powerwashing and painting the exterior of the buildings, then new front stoops, then they had to check the fire extinguishers, and now its new carpeting, paint and mailboxes in the halls. The changes are fine but, its just kinda a pain since they tend to come in when I'm not here and I worry the cats might escape and its all pretty noisey. At least it hasn't been anything as big as plumbing. That would be majorly inconvenient.

yeah that does seem awfully short notice. I would have expected a week.

That is very short notice, especially when it seems to be a big job that they have to do.
At least they could have given you a couple of weeks. I am lucky because my lease states that they have to give me at least 10 days notice for something like that unless of course it's an emergency.

From what I found out today, the apartment manager was just notified last week. There are 4 apartments involved. The owner himself is doing the work. The girl in the office said she already had a complaint about the time frame before my neighbor and I went down there today. Not much we can do. We are just worried about the cats. She is single and doesn't want her boy to get out. Mike will put the girls in their carriers when the owner comes. They are going to hate us!

She is thinking about having her dad bring down the car trailer and put Shadow and all her stuff from the closet in there. We asked if it was OK but they didn't let us know. There is a lot of parking here and we should have room to put this over 4 or 5 spaces. I just wish the girls knew Shadow since we could put them with him.

I know there is going to be construction dust and I am worried about DH and his COPD. I got him some masks to use if it gets too much for him.

I am off work Thursday and Friday of this week. I might see if I can get off Tuesday and Wednesday.

Since they only have to give you 24 hours (which is usually only 15 because they deliver the note while you are at work so you don't see it until after 6pm) I would count myself lucky if they told me with that much notice and were replacing my plumbing.

I usually just stick my cats, their food, fountain and litterbox in a bedroom when they are doing work in our apartment. I would throw all the stuff from the closet on the bed too!

Yeah I agree they could have given you more time. But hopefully it will be done quickly and you can get your stuff put back soon.

If we had a 2 bedroom apartment, there wouldn't be a problem. But we only have 1 bedroom and they have to go into the closet there

For my apartment building, everything is an emergency
