outdoor playground

I have four indoor cats who love to be outside in our fenced-in yard, especially in warm weather. But we have to watch them very carefully in case one gets the notion to jump out. Does anyone have any experience with a covered cat enclosure, sort of like in a zoo, but smaller. I envision an area like a gigantic crate, with climbing and perching places, and shelter. Maybe constructed somewhat like a chicken coop. Any opinions or experiences?

Several members have made a fenced play yard for their kitties. I'm not sure where they got the plans... Hopefully you can find it with the search option on this site!

I do know there are some websites you can buy the plans on to make cat enclosures, and they basically send you the blue prints and the instructions. We have at least a few members on here who have these.

yeah i was thinking about getting something like that for my kitties. charli always wants to go outside, but they have jumped the fence a few times already so they dont go outside anymore. i saw on the internet of a company that makes cat enclosures (portable ones) called Midwest homes for pets (do a google search) they have a giant one i wanted to get but they don't ship them overseas(i'm in australia)! they are about 4feet X 5 feet so they aren't very big but since i'm renting i can't really build anything too permant and it has tpo be protable so when i move i can transport it easily.

If you go to the "Finished Products" page, the one made by Kimberly, that's one of our own members KimWard34. She and her cats LOVE their Enclosure. I did a search (because I know we've asked her about it before) and she said it cost about $430 (US Dollars) to build the whole thing, including plans, etc. but it's worth every penny.
