Maverick goes into the vet tomorrow to have his retest done for his liver problem, and I'm really nervous about it -- even though he's been doing well on his meds, and doesn't seem to be doing worse. I would think if he had a tumor like the vet thought was a possibility, he would be getting worse. I think the meds he's on are doing what they're supposed to, but I'm still worried about the outcome.

Could I please have some of those special TCS vibes for my precious Maverick?

I've got two cats with liver problems right now and I know what you're going through. I've been "assist" feeding for about two months now, oy! What kind of tests are you having done?

I think they're gonna draw some more blood, to check his liver enzymes - I'm not sure.
I reckon I'll find out soon: we have to take him in in about 2 1/2 hours.

I'm so sorry to hear about your kitties.
I don't have to assist-feed Maverick yet: I'm hoping we got him in soon enough.
I'll keep you & your babies in my thoughts & prayers.
Many to you, too.

The vet just called with Maverick's liver test results. He said that everything is okay for the areas he tested for, except for the ALT, which increased in count from 300-something, to 400-something.
I don't know what that means exactly, but it's apparently not good.

He increased Mav's dosage of Prednisolone & Metronidazole, and is keeping him on the Denamarin too for now. He wants to do another test in two weeks, and if the the ALT count doesn't go down, he recommends doing an ultrasound - which presents a big problem, b/c we don't have that much money for the cost of it. The office visits, testing, and meds for Mav are costing a small fortune as it is. I really don't know what to do now, and am just heartsick.

I really don't understand how Mav can be doing better, considering the fact that the test results weren't good. He hasn't lost any weight, is still eating, and has actually perked up more since first finding out about the liver thing. It seems to me he should be getting worse - not better.

I really wasn't expecting this. I am just heartbroken.
