How many cavities do you have?

YIKES! I have a dental appointment in a few hours because a tooth (1st molar, bottom left) that has never bothered me decided to break off what apparantly was a fragile shell covering a medium-large cavity at the front outside part. Im thinking root canal, but maybe the tooth is big enough and as there is no pain/infection or discoloration (indicating "death"), and the rest of the tooth is healthy - I might get away with a filling. Still, it seems like the identical cavity I had on the other side - and that one did need a root canal.
This will be my 3rd bum tooth....so...congrats if your answer is 0 and welcome to the club if it isnt!

I've had so many cavities on top of cavities that I've got 2 crowns and need 2 more. There comes a point where filling them no longer works.

Here's a lesson to those that avoid the dentist. I avoided one for 10 years and by the time I finally went to one, they had to fill 14 cavities. At one time. Get over your fears if you have them and take care of your teeth!

I am taking my 17 year old to the dentist this afternoon. They are going to do a Panoramic X-ray. to see where her wisdom teeth are. She is having pain in the back of her mouth. The dentist suspects they are coming in sideways. I am hoping she doesn't have to get them removed.

I dont have any. I did have wisdom teeth that had to be plucked out (didnt hurt at all the next day, awesome!) but that's the extent of my dentist experience.

I have had maybe 2 cavities when I was younger. my last filling was at 8. thats 13 years ago

I have no idea. We can't afford to go to the dentist but my mom pays for my son's dentist appts. I know I have at least two, probably more. I should get them taken care of before they become serious, but I need to win the lottery first. DS's visits cost upwards of $700 every time he has cavities. He has my teeth also, so they are really soft and he gets cavities almost every time he goes in. He's had two or three teeth pulled due to abscesses, and a couple crowns. He currently has a crown and a full mouth spacer from a tooth that was pulled a couple months ago from an abscess. His spacer is loose so I need to call and get him in to get it fixed but I keep forgetting.

Enough. All but one of them are very very little so I cannot feel them. The one that a bit worse is in a wisdom tooth, so it will get pulled.

Dental stuff would have been done or mostly done by now had I not ended up with C.diff, then had doctors flip out over my liver tests - and the following surgery to get my gallbladder out. Now it looks like I need to figure out why my GI is so messed up so who knows when I'll get my teeth worked on. And the fun part, what will I do for antibiotics?

Unfortunately I have my mother's teeth so to speak. Hers did this at my age and now are worse. She also found out she has osteoporosis, which is part of why her teeth are bad.

I'd love to have cavaties only! At the moment I have 2 bridges ( 3 teeth each) and 8 crowns. (4 of those crowns came in just the last year) My Dad's side of the family had horrible teeth; 3 of my 4 siblings also have bad teeth. One brother takes after my Mom's side---he's 57 and has never had a filling! I hate him. My maternal grandparents had all their teeth and lived into their 90s.

My teeth hate me and have since I was little.

I unfortunately have "soft" teeth that are prone to cavities regardless of how much I brush them. I'm not sure how many fllings I've had done but I had my first one at age 9.

i am absolutley petrified of the dentist, i still have my wisdom teeth, and i know i have some cavities cause my teeth get sensitive at times...just b/c im afraid of the dentist im still very hygenic, i brush my teeth 2-3 times a day and use mouthwash, but for right now i use sensodyne toothpaste to help with the sensitivity, and when one of my teeth flare up ill take iburpofen, i seriously will not go until it ends up hurting so bad that it feels like my head is going to blow up

I was the same I had so many problems when I was younger due to a missing front tooth, and hate anything done to my mouth. I didn't go for about 10 years, finally went, and had to get 7 fillings. It took a while to find a decent dentist when we got to the US, and then had to get another 6 fillings - including redoing a bunch of the original 7.

My teeth are really soft apparently which does not help things at all.

I know I need to go to the dentist but I have a dental phobia. A few years ago, I went to a dentist that dealt with people with phobias, or they said they did. He scared me so much I haven't been back. He refused to treat me because of my gum condition and said I needed to see a specialist at UCLA!

I need to go and get all my teeth pulled and get a set of dentures.

DH is the same way. That is one our New Year's Resolutions.

I went most of my life without one. I had my first cavity filled at 20. I think I was lucky for so long because when I was younger, they put that sealant stuff on my teeth. I've had 2 cavities filled now, but I know I have more. They filled one, but my tooth STILL hurts when I eat sweets. I went back again and they filled the one next to it, but it still bugs me from time to time.

I think I have another one on the other side of my mouth. I havent been back to the dentist in awhile though. I missed my last 6 month appt because my MIL didnt tell me they called and left a message (they didnt have any appt reminders to give out when I went the previous time, and said they would call and let me know when). Of course after 6 months I wasnt thinking of when my appt was, and she deleted the message and didn't tell me until a month AFTER I was supposed to go. I just havent had the oomph to go make another appt. I do need to, my wisdom teeth need to be removed someday in the near future, and I believe they need to send the referral for me to get them out.

I picked "none" because at the last several appointments I haven't had any. However, I have had them and have fillings and 1 crown, soon to be 2 crowns. The 1 crown I have currently wasn't due to a cavity though. It was due to root and nerve damage from having smacked the tooth against a metal foot board when I was maybe 9 or 10 years old. As I got older the tooth started to darken, so I had a root canal and a crown done in the mid 1980's. The other one I need is because of a large cavity. Currently there is a large filling in the area.

I also need another crown on a molar I broke last summer while eating popcorn. 1/4 of the tooth broke off quite neatly.

Have you inquired on the pricing for a cleaning? My dentist charges $70 and to me that is worth it to avoid further issues down the road.

No cavities for me. When I was a toddler the doc told mom I had one but she highly doubted him. It was my baby tooth and when my adults came in I had no issues. Hubby is the same way but he did gt his first cavity 2 years ago. I brush my teeth at least 3x's a day. I don't floss(drives me nuts) but I use an electric tooth brush and it helps. Always brush after a sugary meal but not after acidic drinks/foods like coffee.

I've got a couple. I've had a lot of trouble with my teeth since I was little - they are crooked, overcrowded and haven't grown properly and are a horrible colour. I've had a mouth plate and had heaps of teeth out and people wonder why I don't smile in photos.

I don't have any cavities. I have had all of my wisdom teeth out by surgical means (I was actually put under) and I do have one filling because I had a discolored enamel on one of my teeth.

My hubby, however, seems to have multiple cavities found every time he goes in for a cleaning. He gets his teeth cleaned 4 times a year. Twice by the dentist, twice by the periodontist. He flosses like 3 times a day also. So weird. Back when he was in his 20's, he had a tobacco chewing habit that led to him having to have skin taken from the roof of his mouth and transplanted to his gums and also contributed to his tooth problems. Lesson learned - don't chew tobacco!

I have a few basically all my molars have at least one. I also have soft teeth, I inherited my Dad's teeth, he had them all out and a full set of dentures by the time he was 40

At this point I would need much more than a cleaning, so it would be pretty expensive. Even $70 is a huge deal for us, that can be more than a weeks worth of food depending on how thrifty we are, so that just isn't in the cards for us right now. If it were between me and my husband, he would need a dentist first as his wisdom teeth are pretty much cracked in half. He should have had them taken out in highschool but his parents didn't want to spend the money to do so.
