When it rains it pours....may be hard now to narrow it down to what you will get. Maybe you will have to adopt two of them????

Fantastic thread! I love rexes, I have a Moggie x Cornish Rex cross - he has normal fur but he is completely insane and has no common sense whatsoever, just like his Cornish Rex mum!

Are you prepared for the chaos and mischief? Cornish Rex are the practical jokers of the cat world, Devons are similarly naughty
My Cornie cross, Radar, takes great delight in hiding places then leaping out vertically and scaring the you know what out of you. He hid in the bin once, shot out of it as I was walking past, made me shriek, and left a trail of potato peelings and used tea bags down the hallway
We had to get a new bin to stop him playing hide and seek in it
He also posts stuff into things - toy mice are found in the VCR slot and the toaster slots. The thing is that he will sit and laugh while you remove all the toys he has inserted into every available piece of household equipment. He's an absolute horror! He can pick things up just using his paws, he's like a cross between a cat and a monkey
Love him to bits although my goodness he can be naughty
Never a dull moment!

Edit to add Radar is the black and white cat in my signature at the bottom of my posts. He's naughty! But very very entertaining, but it is difficult to keep up with whatever mischief he's going to get into next
They are so intelligent it's scary! Love him so much

I am trying to get more info on that cattery.
I just want to make sure she gets a good kitten.
I don't like that site at all - I know nothing about the breeder, but I do not like their website. Rexes are not hypoallergenic because most people with cat allergies are allergic to saliva, not fur. Also their first statement is that you can go out without having cat hair on your clothes. What? That is not my first consideration when getting a cat, if that's a real problem get a stuffed toy.

Sorry I know nothing about that breeder but the front page of their site has annoyed me.
What is their breeding programme? Breeding for health and temperament, or so you don't get a "gasp" cat hair on your evening gown?

I wouldn't give them a second glance (and if they are good ethical breeders, they really need to rethink their website!)

IMO there are a lot of red flags with this breeder. I'd cross that one off the list. Besides what Epona pointed out, I don't like the fact that it seems none are being shown and they don't seem to be very typey.

I glanced at one of the pedigrees - some are out of Logenberry Rexes which is a good one, but the type doesn't seem to be there from what is posted.

Its better then the other one; but I still have a problem with one main thing - there are NO pictures of her breeding cats and who they are and if they are really champion or not. She just mentions "champion lines" - that means there is champions in the pedigree but doesn't mean they are SHOWN. Could be champions 4-5 or more generations and none recent.

All she shows is kitten pictures. Even if looking for a pet and not a show, I would not buy from this breeder either.

Thanks for the input. I am still doing a lot of research about all the cattery's that have responded to me so as I get more info from the others I will keep updating.

To help you out with catteries. Some things to look for (even if you are not showing and only want a pet).

1. Does the breeder post pictures of their adult cats (males/females) and do they have titles of champion or grand champion?

2. Do the cats fit the standard? Even if you only buy a pet, the cats that are breeding cats should look close to the written standard of the breed - otherwise the breeder is only breeding pet quality cats to start. Show quality cats don't produce ALL show quality kittens, but the cat should still fit the standard for the most part (maybe a minor "fault" here and there).

3. Do they test their cats for genetic problems? Is the cattery FELV and FIP cleared.? Do they offer a written health guarantee? Are all shots given to the kittens? Do they neuter/spay before placing them in homes?

4. Do you get a copy of the pedigree and registration papers?

5. Do the cats/kittens look healthy and alert and not scared or shy? (I've seen a breeder with a picture of a kitten that had runny eyes and was sick looking).

6. Is the breeder willing to take back their kittens/cats if things don't work out.

7. Is the breeder in the general price range of other breeders?
