Hopefully this is in the right area - please move if its not!

I have a friend who is having some trouble with a neighbor. She's feeding the neighborhood cats, which is attracting more cats, and from the sound of it, the colony is becoming a health risk for the neighborhood, and I'm sure, the cats as well.

What we're hoping to find is contact information to some TNR organizations in the Dallas area that could help with TNRing and maybe relocating the cats to a better location for them, or getting them adopted where possible. At the very least TNRing so they're not reproducing anymore.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. The story's a little vague, but I'm getting the info second-hand over the internet, so if there's any questions you want me to ask, just let me know.

Thanks guys!

You can e-mail them with a description of the situation to see if there are any members of their network in the area: [email protected]

Pets911: http://www.pets911.com/organizations/organizations.php

And at Petfinder, type in your location, just fill in "cat" and scroll through all the pages and check out each organization that has cats up for adoption - conduct what I call an "e-mail campaign." ALL of them have some kind of contact information. Just make sure you write down a list of each e-mail and which org its associated with, because most of the contact e-mails are individuals, so it can be hard to remember which org went with which name unless you keep good track of it. MOST of them will not be TNR type rescues - so compose an e-mail that makes it clear that you're wondering if they know of any individuals OR of any orgs that can help with TNR.

The other idea - which many of us have had to resort to - is to just work out a low-cost spay/neuter with a local shelter or vet (you can also search for low-cost spay/neuter at Pets911.com) - or a payment plan at a vet - and buy a trap or borrow one from a local vet or a local shelter.

We've got an arrangement with our vet where we drop the cats off when we trap them, they get to them when they can, we leave males for one night and females for two, and we get a discount and we pay them over time. They are required by law to give the rabies vaccine. We bought a trap, but they had one to lend when we started.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
