Makeup is fun!
I think, you oughtn't be afraid to play around with it, no one is going to say... "you didn't follow the rules!" Although pricey tools may make it easier, you don't need them. Qtips and fingers work fine!

I do line my top eyelid with eyeliner (black even, but I have a dark complexion). I have a hard time doing it with my eyes open, so I poke the outer corner of my lid to make sure it stays shut.
Work from the inner eye to the outer. I have little advice about the lower lid (I'm squeamish when it comes to eyes). Some people do above the lower eyelashes, some on.

To blend eyeshadow, I use a brush. Sometimes, I use my finger. Qtips work too. Most of the time, I use my finger.

For lipstick, I don't use a liner to keep it from bleeding. I remember as a young teen, friends spent hours on their makeup. You don't really have to. Don't be afraid to be colorful. I once saw on a TV program that bright reds make your smile look whiter and the ladies on there said to not be afraid to just sweep it across your lips- it doesn't have to be perfect. So I've followed their advice!

When I'm feeling particularly fancy,
I shade in my eyebrows too. Just lightly, to give them more definition.

The more you put makeup on, the easier it gets. I've been wearing makeup for such a long time, that I can get some of the stuff on without looking in the mirror.
Here's a picture of my face, made-up in just a couple of minutes (blush, eyeliner, eyeshadow, lipstick):

It isn't perfect (looks like I missed part of my lid, huh?
), but it's fun and I think people don't really even notice if something's a bit off... everyone's preoccupied with how their own face looks.

ETA: A before makeup photo of me. These are rare, so this one is like a year old!

Let me tell ya something about make up...lol.

Okay, so when you start or finish. You need to make up your mind on what you want to focus on, eyes? Lips. If you do a heavy eye, you need a neutral shade of lip. You can't have bright or outstanding colors on both.

I HIGHLY reccomend watching "What not to wear" on the Learning Channel. The make up artist on there can explain a lot.

These two items are my best friends.

http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P1278

I use this for under eye concealer, right below the eyebrow line for highlight, or you can you is right above the cheek bone or another highliht effect. It's my magic stick.

This is my second bestfriend.

http://www.sephora.com/browse/produc...egoryId=C10461

It's an eyeshawdow base. You put it on before, let dry and put your eyeshadow on. This prevents fading and creasing. I have use this before went out for a night, and came home late slept with my make up on and when I woke up in the morning my eye make up was still good. I also use this product alone. For a more a natural look.

Then there are bronzers. This is were people make the most mistakes. Bronzer does not go on your cheeks. It goes below the cheek bone line, and comes up around the eye. Like a "C". Use very little and I mean little. If applied properly it can makes ones face look ten pounds thinner! I swear!

Blush, do not be afraid of pink. I love it. You don't have to use a lot. Just smile and dab with brush on cheek bone the roundest part.

I really don't reccomend wearing eyeliner during the day. Usually people wear way too much make up in the daylight. I generally keep my day look to a minimum. Meaning I don't wear eyeshadow unless I am in the mood. I never wear eyeliner unless am going out and going for the "smokey eye" look.

Mascara. To be water proof or not? This is hard for me because I hate raccoon eyes so I do wear waterproof mascara. This however dries out your lashes. So usually if I have noone to impress, I don't wear it.

Most of what I have learned about make up has been what I have seen on tv or read in beauty magazines. No one ever taught me how to apply it. In the end they only thing that matters now if how you like what you see. If you don't lik it, take it off.
Hope this has been helpful.

I usually wear make up every day. I try to match my eye color to my shirt. I don't know why it just seems right to me. I believe anyone can wear any color you just need to find the right shade. I have brown eyes and tan skin so when I want to look more natural I stick to the brown tones. Im not picky about the brans I use, usually I go and buy one of these gift packs that come out a christmas time at Target or walmart. They come with everything you need and then some all for around $15. The colors are nice and all compliment eachother.
For eyeliner I do it on both top and bottom, again I always match the liner to the shadow color. I am not a fanof blush so I don't really use it, only for special times, smae thing for lipstick. I am trying to at least wear a gloss now just to round out the look.

I find reading cosmo helps alot when it comes to tips. They have all kinds of things for every aspect, make up hair all of it. You can also go tho their site its a wealth of info.
Warning, the site has some adult content, not bad just info that may not be sutable for some people.

Basicly do what makes you comfortable. If you are not use to it start light and work up to more heavy. Have fun with it. Just remember to always wash it off before bed. Get a good makeup remover, it helps when trying to wash it off especially the water proof kind.

Oh yea, go to the local mall and talk to the girls at make up counters. They should be able to give you tips and samples so you can try different things to find whats right for you.

I think you did a good job of it.

I did not read all the other posts but I think the most common mistake is useing too much.

I do not think the guys like it all that much either. I remember over hearing a conversation in a festival crowd that went, " She is so sparkley, just like a christmas tree". It wasnt aimed at me or I would of ran and hid in the car. That was years ago but I remember it to this day.

I may just start with foundation so I can get used to wearing that first. My eyes will be the hardest. My eyes are small to begin with my eyelids are usually scrunched together.

Your makeup looks pretty good to me!

I'm just going to have to watch, learn and practice! Hopefully, I will be able to catch on.

Thanks, I think its not bad for literally a couple of minutes of work. I have very little color to my face when I'm without makeup- it's like my lips, cheeks, and everything else are all the same color.

I think I read somewhere to use a forefinger at the outer corner of your eyelids to smooth them out. You're lucky, you have a pretty eye color to work with! (BTW, your eyes don't look small to me!)

I use oil...Yes that's right. lol.

http://www.aubreynicole.com/store/home.php?cat=348

I do always reccomend buying samples first though.

The first time I got a facial from my new place a couple months back the woman was shocked to hear that I use the purifying oil to remove makeup. This is what you are supposed to be using. A lot of people don't know that. It works well and doesn't irritate the skin. Of course after I remove my makeup I have to wash with a glycolic cleasner, but that's just cause my skin is acne prone.

I buy most of my make up from Aubrey Nicole as well.

The absolute best I've ever found (I used to do theatrical make-up, and picked up the tip there) is Albolene Cleanser. It's great for any kind of make-up, including eye make-up, and leaves no residue. It's a bit hard to find - I've had the best luck at Wal-Green's.

One thing I forgot to mention about eye shadow. Almay (hypoallergenic) has trios you can get to emphasize your eye color, with instructions on how to use the colors. They have two sets of eye shadow for each eye color (one for day wear, another more intense set for evening wear), plus matching mascara and eyeliner. You need a brush to apply it.

I may have to look for the albolene cleaner and try that.

Can anyone recommend a good way to get my teeth whiter without spending a lot of money?

you look gorgeous, i had heaps of trouble at the beginning with the eyes.
Trick is to buy a good concealer for the face, it may be pricey but its worth it, also the moisturizer. I only wear a tan powder eg the light Guerlain
just buy the natural colours like brown eyeliner and olive green, I wouldn't go dark on your skin tone, id also go for a peachy or a hmm how to describe... a nice tone of pink as the blush.. you can always go in a make up department and ask the girls to show you how to wear make up on your face.

LIke Sue said practice makes perfect!!!

I always wear lip liner and fill in my lips then add lipgloss instead of yuckky lipstic! It doesnt cling onto your teeth

I LOVE my YSL mascara, the more strokes you do it makes your eyelashes longer and longer

It looks great

I never really have time to do makeup either, nor am I good at it. My mom can do my hair and makeup and all that really nicely, and is pretty subtle on the stuff she uses. I cant stand when people plaster their face with foundation and crazy colors with makeup. Whenever my mom gets her hands on me for a special occasion to do my makeup, she can make me look 5-7 years older, too. (which, when I'm ~35 I'd hope it'd make me look younger
)

Rob is glad I never really wear much except eyeliner on occasion. His ex-gf used to wear "pounds" of makeup on her face, to the point where you could see the foundation "cracking".

Baking soda, from the box. Use sparingly, it's abrasive!

ETA, red lipstick if you're feeling bold

Buy some whitening mouth wash. I brush with that in between meals. You can use peroxide/baking soda but you have to be careful not to swallow or use too much BS.

Just keep practicing with the make-up. Trash anything over 6 months old. Never go to bed with make-up on. Try different brands. Everyone has different reactions to brands. Like I am allergic to Maybelline Makeup even the hypoallergenic ones. Less is more. You can buy a brush that will blend your eyeshadows perfectly. Check out sephora's website. If you add too much pressure a Q-tip can remove color instead of blending.
