I just got off the phone with my mom. She had lymphoma 10 years ago, and recently had to get some tests done because of a lump on her head, outside the skull, luckily. She has to begin treatments tomorrow because of a mass near her aorta.

The doctor told her it is very low-grade cancer, and not to worry. Yea, right. She will be taking rituxan, which is a new treatment with fewer side effects than chemo.

I can tell she and my dad are both worried, but we can only see how the treatment works over time.

God bless her and give her courage and strength.
Please let us know her progress. And God bless you too, Brenda. This must be terribly hard for you.

Thanks, everyone. I could tell my dad is really worried, too. They have such love for each other, even after almost 37 years of marriage. I don't know what he would do if something happened to my mom.

The good thing is that people can live for a long time with this kind of cancer. Hopefully the treatments will reduce the growth and she will be ok. At least she won't lose her hair.
She was happy about that.

Brenda - i will keep your mother in my prayers. The prayers from people on this board helped my mom pull thru her cancer just 2 months ago!

I talked to her a little while ago. She was very happy that she didn't have any side effects from the treatment today. There are 3 more over the next 3 weeks, then they will reassess the situation and see if further treatment is necessary.

Again, thanks for the prayers and positive thoughts. I really appreciate your concern. Y'all are the best.
