Tragedy and loss of my precious cats

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I last posted. I've had a terrible week. I had four beautiful cats, Tiramisu, CHantilly, Caspian and Vienna. The day after boxing day my flat was broken into and when I got back there was no sign of my precious babys. I searched everywhere but they were gone. They are moggies so I didn't really understand why they had been taken. Caspian was 6 months, Tiramisu and Chantilly 4 months and Vienna 3 months. So they were young. I was depressed all week and didn't speak to any one or eat anything. So I guess I wasn't really helping myself or them. The police called to say they had caught the person responsible, I got my big TV and hi fi and CDs and DVDs back but big hay what about my cats? Apparently the person didn't know anything. So maybe they all got out while the door was open (the way it got left).
Good news though today this evening, Caspian my beautiful boy came home. I don't know wher hes been and oh how I wish he could talk and tell me where the girls went!
Advice would be great! Tiramisu is black with ginger flecks and has amber eyes, CHantilly, white all over with a tabby tail and a tabby patch over her eye, Vienna is all black. I'm not sure any one on here can help but I it's worth I try. I live in Pudsey, Leeds, England. Tiramisu had a bandage on her tail at the time and was taking medication. I am very worried though Caspian was in perfect health when he came swanning in earlier. One thing thats crossed by mind is that perhaps they could sell the younger ones quickly and Caspian being older and much bigger didn't get taken.

Oh, that's awful!!!! I'm glad Caspian came back or was "brought" back... and I am sending vibes to find the others. Were they by chance microchipped?

Stupid question, but have you tried the RSPCA and Cats Protection etc near you?

Hello thanks all for your advice. Caspian is laying in my arms right now purrring contentedly how glad am I to hear that beautiful sound!! Cats Protection and RSPCA are great ideas and I will get in touch with them tomoro if not Monday. I don't know why I didn't do anything straight away but I guess I was in shock if anything else. Theres a chance Tiramisu might have ended up in the vets due to her damaged tail. The only one microchipped was Caspian, he got his chip when he was neutered, the plan was for each of them to get their chip when they went for their spaying at six months. I am feeling a little more hopeful tonight now a piece of my heart and soul is back safe in his place, I just need to find my other three pieces and then I am complete =)

I would call them as soon as possible as they hold them for so many days and then they go up for adoption and they sound very cute so they could be adopted quickly

For anyone reading this thread, this is VERY IMPORTANT.

If your cat/cats go missing for any reason, contact the Animal Control office for your town, and any adjoining towns, if they're nearby. Register your lost cats with the local shelter and pound, preferably with a photo. We keep a book at our office, and on a regular basis we have cats brought in as strays that are actually someone's lost babies.

And get them chipped! At the very worst, the shelter can identify the body if the cat is brought in dead (and our animal control picks up EVERY dead animal, including wild animals). We've had cats and dogs brought in alive and when we found their microchip, we've tracked down the owners before they knew the animal was missing!

Yes, I was thinking the very same... call as soon as possible and give descriptions of each cat. You can make posters to put up in your neighborhood, too, with photos and descriptions and your phone number to call if they are found.

Call all the vets in your area, or even the neighboring towns/cities as well, and leave a description or bring them one of your posters, possibly the cat with the bandaged tail would end up being taken to the vet by a "new owner" (aka. theif).

I also like the idea of leaving extra-special food outside for them. Perhaps sardines or tuna, something really smelly to draw their attention?

I really hope you find them all, and I am so happy to hear your boy came back home.

Oh no....I hope you can find your remaining kitties....What about placing some flyers around your neighbourhood ? Maybe they just got out of the house and are near by ...

And keep the chip info updated when you move or change your phone #

We have several cats at the shelter at the moment who have chips but the information was never registered with the chip company or the person has moved and didn't update the info.

Your kittens, all under 6 months, old have been missing from Dec. 26.

That's 9 days.

Tell us what you have done to find them and maybe more specific suggestions can be made.

Most places in this country will not hold an animal past maybe 5 days.

Have you called all the local vet offices? You said one was sick/injured?

Time is most important. Call all the places mentioned NOW. Kittens are not good at surviving on their own.

DO NOT WAIT until Monday. Leave messages if you must.

That`s what I am thinking. Hopefully they are safe and well somewhere close by?...My kitties & I are keeping you & your babies in our prayers for a safe return and good news! Please keep us posted! I would absolutely DIE if my babies were missing, be they taken or ran off...

The poster is actually in the UK, so some of the suggestions made aren't valid - we dont have things like Animal Control.

Here is some advice from a UK forum with local websites etc

Advice if you have lost your cat:-

Here are a few things to try:

1. Posters, Posters, Posters with picture and details with contact number.....hand out to neighbours and anyone you see. Put up in local shops, pubs and supermarkets. Stick to all local lamp posts. (If it rains go and collect them and replace however it's best to put posters in plastic wallets so if it rains they don't go all soggy - the neighbours and council donâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t mind you putting them up so much that way). Also put one in your and friends cars - it amazing how many people see them this way. Make smaller flyers and push through every letterbox on your streets and the surrounding area. It is a good idea to offer a reward … of course this doesnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t have to be money … a box of cho-colates or a bunch of flowers is just as good.

2. Knock on doors and ask neighbours to check their sheds and garages WHILE YOU WAIT … it's surprising how many people say they will check but as soon as the door is closed they forget. Knock on 10 doors either side of your house on both sides of the street.

4. Leave food out and a toy of his

5. Leave out an unwashed item of your clothing

6. Put the contents of your hoover bag on your garden - itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s full of smells that they will recognise and if doesnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t bring him directly to your door will at least hopefully keep him in the area. Alternatively if you have a litter tray that has used put some of the used litter on the garden as this will have familiar smells in it.

7. Contact the local fire brigade and see if they have had to rescue any stuck cats

8. Ask the local children to look - they are great for knowing all the local hidey-holes and love helping. Also have a word with your local post-person and milk man if there is one that delivers in your area. Also try and enlist the help of people walking dogs as they tend to go “off road†in the fields and parks.

9. Ask the local radio station to announce heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s missing and give out a contact number

10. Put an advert in the local paper

11. Contact your local environmental services dept (bin men) they keep a log of all animals picked on the roadside ... I know this is not a pleasant call to make and hopefully it will come back as negative.

12. Go out after dark when it is quieter with a friend / partner and walk round the local area gently calling every so often (give him a chance to answer you). Keep talking as you walk round that way if he is in the area he will hear you.

13. When you talk to vets and rescues, ask them about any known local feral colonies and where they are based. If Kitty has been missing for more than a few days s/he might have wandered further afield and might be “hanging round†near a colony for security (safety in numbers) and company. If vets/rescues know locations of colonies, these might be useful to get some ideas of where to start looking.

14. If you have Pet Insurance check your policy to see if they will assist with advertising costs or reward costs for a lost cat. Some policies cover as much as £1000 of local advertising and upto £500 reward.

Hmmm no new news huh.....just checking in to see if there was anthing new....I'd be so freaked out right now....knocking on doors with pictures...placing flyers and even willing to make it worth someone's while..with a reward...I sure hope they are found..

I've phoned the cats protection league and RSPCA and they will keep their details in mind. I phoned the vets also. I've knocked around the street and surrounding streets but no one has seen/or knows anything. The thought that keeps going through my mind is that, they have been taken and sold some where far away but I'd like to know, just to know they are safe and some one is looking after them. . Though the burglar said he didnt take any cats. I don't know I feel very sad but more optimistic seeing as Cas is home. I also phoned the police but they wern't very useful. I think I am going a little mad, every time Caspian gets up and does his looking about and meowing I rush downstairs and see if any one is there but they are not . I have been walking around the area three times a day. I just hope some one is feeding them and they are warm and clean and safe. My poor babies
