well, i made a sig using GIMP... but GIMP saves in a .xcf format. it also doesn't have a 'save for the web' option. anyway, i don't know how to upload it - photobucket won't accept this format, & i can't figure out how to convert it to a jpg or gif format.

anyone know?

Laureen, do you have Irfanview? I use that to change the format of files.

I just open the file through Irfanview, Click 'Save as' then you can choose jpeg or gif through the drop down menu at the bottom.

all you have to do is delete the xcf and put in it's place jpg when you are in the save dialog box. It will ask if you want to flatten the image you say yes. Export

thanks! i'm going to try that!

it worked! now, tell me what y'all think, ok?

i'm not sure why her pic is so blurry - plus, it would've looked better if i'd put her pic on the left instead of the right... but the text was done first.
but next time i'll do better!

Looks good

The pics get blurry when saving as a compressed file so depending on how it looks, sometimes I save it without compression and use something else to compress it

I always do the text last so I can see where it fits best. It has been a while since I used GIMP but I think it has layers so you can move them around after the fact

Or blurrier when the picture was so so quality to begin with, compressed and saved, then compressed and saved again.

With GIMP I just type .jpg or whatever I want at the end of the file name when I go to save it. Works well enough. Use the preview option as well when saving to check how the quality looks that you're saving to.
