Is January 2nd a public holiday wherever you are?

Here in NZ, January 2nd is considered a New Years Holiday and so it is a public holiday.

Is it a public holiday in your country?

No not here, only the 1st. I'm not back to work until the 5th anyway

Nope not in the US though many companies will be closed since the holiday was thursday

No, but it's my DH's birthday!

I find that interesting. Susan -I go back to work on the 5th too, but it will be really quiet so I will be here, naturally!

Happy birthday to him! It is my friend Denis's birthday too!

Nope, although a lot of businesses gave workers the day off because it was a Friday.

No, not a holiday in Canada either. Though some offices have closed because it falls on a Friday, but it that was an option they chose, it's not law.

Holidays here are December 25, 26 and January 1.

Not here, in fact, I have to go in an hour early tomorrow since they are going to be shorthanded. But it is an hour of overtime. Next week I will be going in 1/2 hr early every day.

Not a public holiday, but it's a company holiday for DH.

Back to work tomorrow for me I've been off work for five days, I've got three days on and then another five days off.

It isn't in the Netherlands, I've worked all day today.

But I have the weekend off so I had that to look forward to.

Same here. DH went back to work today though - he doesnt get paid time off like I do.
