38 dogs rescued but only 1 cat

This is so confusing- why weren't more cats saved?? I guess for the same reason that AnimalCops NY & Detroit show lots of dog rescues, but fewer cat rescues except for stories about collectors, where the rescuers seem to mostly complain about the smells and scratches, and basically "prove" that cats are dirty, smelly, mean creatures
Why is it that dogs get all the breaks??? dogs take more time, attention, space, etc... I was reading statistics on spending by dog owners v. cat owners and cat owners spend less on their pets, but are more likely to own more than one cat and more likely to spend more for their cat than themselves, if the need arises.
May Heaven have a special place for those kitties who were euthanized because nobody here on Earth had space, time or money for them

That makes me mad.

To be completely honest, if our shelter was helping, we would be able to help more dogs than cats too. We don't have an empty cat cage at the moment and two of the vets that we use for boarding animals have contagious sicknesses and can't take cats right now. So we could help by taking dogs but just wouldn't have anywhere to put the cats. Right now we have no dogs, they were all adopted and we have empty kennels.

Its a rescue group who went out of their way to go to Animal Control without being asked to help to help where they could. They have over 100 cats listed on their website, maybe they have the same problem we do - space for dogs but not cats.

If you want to be upset, be upset at the that let all these animals stray to begin with, and didn't speuter them.

That's what I was thinking, too. The nearest public shelter here has absolutely no more capacity for cats, and is asking private groups to take them. There are simply more stray/surrendered cats than dogs.

Here we would've had to let them all die. We are slammed full of dogs, & bordering on euthanizing cats for overpopulation ourselves. Unforunately, IMO most of the population doesn't think as highly of cats as they do dogs - and do not care for them (like spay/neuter) nor do they care if they let them loose.
