Their doing the needle biopsy now.

They don't know if it's a tumour or if it's puss?!

If it's pneumonia from an inhaled foreign object, it's not good because they can't get it out

OMG, I just found this thread now. I am sending lots and lots of that is is puss as Susan just posted and not a mass.

You are all amazing I feel really bad about not replying to everyone but it`s just a bit difficult right now. I do read everything though and am really touched by everyones support and kindness

Thanks Susan for posting updates for me It sucked being at work but kept me busy while I was waiting for their calls and yep, started taking down the crimbo decs at 11pm and finished at 2 Wasn`t really in the mood to look at them anymore and didn`t want to lay in bed thinking for hours.


So, I`m still waiting to hear from them about the needle biopsy.
They did the ct scan and rang while he was still under and said we had 2 options.
1) Wake him up and treat with antibiotics, he can come home in a day or so and then go back in a week to be reassesed.

2) While he was still under, do the fine needle biopsy to find out for certain what the mass was.

They said it is either a growth or pus and pneumonia. If it was pneumonia and from an inhaled foreign object, there wouldn`t be a lot they could do to get it out.

I told them to go ahead with the biopsy because then we can find out for sure. He said it`s risky but he wouldn`t be suggesting it if he didn`t think it was a option. Also if it is pus, it may leak out into the chest cavity.

I know if something went wrong I`d blame the decision I made but if he came home on antibiotics and it was a tumor and he had a relapse I`d think the same. Rock and hard place spring to mind

Oh, I wore the t-shirt I had on yesterday to bed and wore it to work Then after work we went to the post office and posted it to Kitty. Maybe it will smell nice to him

Kitty is just going to love your T-Shirt when he gets it. I bet he'll be sleeping in there all the time

Although it is a risk doing the needle biopsy, it will give you either a result or peace of mind and you won't have the stress for you and kitty of making another trip to do it should it become necessary.

Sending loads and loads of good vibes for good results and something that is easily treatable and cured

Hang in there - at least the procedure is over with. You're one step closer to your boy coming home

Well, they called. The good news is the biopsy went ok and he is recovering well and relaxed in his cage He said it was difficult to get anything out but they got some cells. The vet said he looked at some under the microscope and said he couldn`t see any cells that would suggest pneumonia but pointed out he is NOT a pathologist. Now, because of the weekend they will probably get the results monday.

He said Kitty is very settled and calm which is good. He`s been sedated and anaesthetised 3 times in 3 days so he`s probably quite spaced out.

Oh, he also said I could go and visit as he`s so settled. I`m going to see how feasable it is. There is a train station near by but I would probably have to go via London.

He is on antibiotics now and he said if he continues to do well he can be discharged monday but will have to stay resting.

I think that`s everything Happy the biopsy went well, just nervous about results.

Ok, I`m going to check the train times

That is very good news I hope you are able to see him soon, and lots of healing for Kitty. Hopefully Monday's news is good as well, and this can be treated easily. You are such a good Kitty owner, I can't imagine how heartbreaking all of this has been on you.

Well I'm glad he's doing OK at the vet. that the news on Monday will be good!
