Is it better to feed one kind of food, or is it better to get different flavors/brands? There are so many different cat foods, so I was just wondering.

Right now I free feed Authority: sensitive solutions dry, and sometimes I mix in a bag of Blue Buffalo: adult dry when it's on sale. And then I give 1/3 a can of By Nature Organics: Chicken &Chicken Liver in the morning. I always get the same canned food because I don't want to upset their stomachs.

I work as a cashier at a petstore and some people get so many different flavors/brands of food. So I was wondering if people did that because they think their cat will be bored of the same thing everyday or if it was better for the cats to have a wide variety of foods.

Many of us do ... some kitties get bored ... Others of us are trying to avoid being caught without food for our babies if another round of recalls happen... others do it to ensure proper nutrients

And by free feeding the dry I put down 1 1/2 cups a day for 3 cats, so they each get about 1/2 cup dry and 2 oz canned. It doesn't seem like a lot but none of the cats are underweight. At the end of the day there is still a small amount of dry left in their bowl. And they don't harass me on the days that I feed them on time. They do put on the "i love you sooo much" show on days that I get up late.

What about beef cat food? It seems weird to me to feed a cat beef. It's not really part of their natural diet, but then again eating food from a can isn't exactly natural either.

I have feed only a couple different foods, and change due to tummy problems. We don't do well with corns or glutens from corn. I like the new one we found, it's Natural UltraMix....I found it at PetCo. We did Blue Spa...but after a few bags all started to turn away from the bowl. My vet says all are about 2 to 3 pounds over weight, I put down 2 1/2 cups per day. So now I put 2 cups down, 1 cup in the am and 1 cup in the evening. No extra treats, no people foods. And 2 to 3 days a week, I skip the am dry for a 5 oz. can split between 4, the boys really don't care for meat, but the girls go crazy for meat. And no one really cares for beef. All do go crazy for rabbit.
I hope this helps.
