Hi i have a desexed male cat who is about 2 years old.he was dumped in a box at my daughters work when he was 6 months old.hes never been an affectionate cat i suspect he has semi feral parents..anyway the last few months he has been more affectionate he follows me about ...talks back when i talk to him and loves being stroked and hes now sleeping on my bed..he will not be picked up and if i do he goes totally limp and slippery until he slides out of my arms..i know some cats don`t like being picked up but the issue is when he goes to bed he goes really weird..he kneads madly with just his back feet..i don`t tell him but he looks soooo funny..he only sleeps from my knees down but when he does this weird back footed knead if i move my legs away he runs backward till he can stomp on my legs again..i can do this over and over and every time its a backwards run..the other thing is after a while the back end starts to sink until hes in a weeing/sitting position..i am worried that he will wee on me.i am worried for 2 reasons 1. that he might wee and 2 if i move my legs or move him am i rejecting his affections..i have always had cats but this is something new..hoping some one can help or has seen this strange behavior before..

Hmmm... the kneading from leg to leg in the back is mating, I think. So, I THINK he is acting out on you. Not sure what you can do about it. Some others have complained on here about the "humping" behavior of fixed male cats and have managed to transfer that, um, energy to stuffed animals, rolled up fleecy throws, etc.

Good luck... and hopefully someone with more experience will have better advice.

Thanks for the reply Addie.
Dexter not the most outgoing cat so if i move him away when he starts this behavior will he take it as rejection?? Hes not "humping" from the hips just this weird back footed kneading..He is just now after 2 years asking for pats and rubs we are trying to be careful and build up his confidence...:

Cats don't have to "hump" with their hips.... that backfoot thing you describe is part of what they do when they mate with females. It's a kind of rocking from paw to paw. Dogs do this, too.

I would tell him he's a good boy... give him a pet and a skritch .... but transfer his attentions to a stuffed toy. You can even put that toy in a t-shirt that smells like you. Give it a try...
