Hello everybody:

My Lucas (who has discoid Lupus) is sick again, is not that bad. What happened was that the vet told me to changed his Prednisone dose from 5mg every 2 days to every 3 days and at first it seemed to work fine, but he is getting sick again. So, tomorrow I'm taking him back to the vet and I'm guessing he will change his dose once again.

I'm sad, I was hoping he could stay on 5mg every 3 days, but it seems that won't happen. he needs more than that. Anyway, I'll see what the vets says, I just want him to be ok.

Perhaps he just may need to be weaned down in a different way. Perhaps 1/2pill every two days will work better. I know when I've been on prednisone (way too many times), my doctors have had various different ways to taper me off.

PS: If you are getting prednisone from your vet, you may want to ask for a prescription and take it to a regular pharmacy. I paid the same amount for 15 prednisone pills for Zoey as I would for 150 for myself. They were the exact same pills.

Yes, that is what I was thinking, maybe the doses need to be changed differently. I'm a little worried because I've had some bad experiences with previous vets and even though the one I have now is supposed to be really good I'm not sure he knows what he is doing. I feel he never had a case of feline Lupus before.

That si a great idea, I will ask for a prescription

Thanks so much
