Pic Request: Homemade cat trees

Hi folks...

I'm looking for ideas on how to build a nice stable cat tree/condo/play thingie.

I saw one, posted a couple pages back (her hubby is an engineer...that post). I was wondering if anyone else has built their own?

Could you please post some pics, and a description or how-to....like how to get the carpet on (staple or glue?), tips on wrapping sisal around things, and again how to attach... anything to keep in mind, aside from making sure its stable, etc.

I'd really appreciate the ideas...

Yes, I'm thinking of making one. I think it would work out cheaper than buying one. The PetValu store has one, but its $160 + tax. I would think I should be able to make something similiar, cheaper.

My dad made me this one. I wanted a long one, so the cats could run around on it a bit since my apartment (originally) was all hardwood.

They LOVE it




Can't help much on how it was constructed, but atleast maybe will give you some ideas. He made my mom almost an identical one, however wrapped on off the legs with sisel (sp?) rope.
