I use yahoo messenger. I like that one the most. They have better instant messages and smilies. They no longer have the option of making your own chat room though.

For that I use paltalk messenger.

I prefer Googletalk
I use Gmail and Gtalk all the time, and Google groups too. All my friends that I chat with regularly use Gtalk and we chat through it and the group. I have one friend that uses Yahoo and occasionally I log on to chat with her, but I usually call her if I want to chat.

For work though you're probably better off choosing something nobody has and make them create an account and allow them to use only that so they're not chatting at work all day
Well work are not huge on the idea and messengers are not allowed to be installed so we have special permission for it and it would be uninstalled once the application deadline is reached.
It wouldn't be their own accounts anyway, we would make one in the biz name, but we don't want to make it difficult for the people applying by making them make a new account

I think the meebome widget would be perfect for this. None of the website visitors need to have an account, or download anything. The people at your work wouldn't need to download anything either. Just a chat account name and access to the web.

They would have to stay online for the reply though right? I was thinking IM because we could leave offline messages as we can't be in the office all the time
