This was taken with a Nikkor 35mm F2
The last photo was taken with a Sigma 18-50mm F2.8

I got into photography because of my cat. Because point-and-shoots just didn't do the job. And anything higher than a F2.8 just couldn't capture him in room lighting.

The 35mm F2 is a GREAT lens, very sharp, fast, and small depth of field for that great portrait effect.

Wow! Great pics! Especially the one shot where you're reflected in his eye! Very cool!

Very nice photos. My neighbor has a Russian Blue and I've tried photographing her indoors without much success, so I agree with you completely about the point-and-shoot cameras and room lighting. I just couldn't bring out the true color of the cat's fur without a flash, and with a flash I I mostly got yellow eye. This is the best picture I was able to get of her all night and it was flashed. Like you, I too am considering getting a better camera just so that I can get better pictures of the cats.

What a beautiful feline (and a great lens)! I love Russian Blues and so miss my cat, Nakita, who passed away 2 years ago. Here's a past pic of her:

I only purchased an SLR after she passed away but I would have loved to have that camera to photograph her when she was alive. Russian Blue's have such beauty.

Feel free to share more pics.
There are many of us who love Russian Blues but don't get to see them that often on the forum.

A trait of Russian Blues is their vivid green eyes.

I know the vivid green eyes are their trait.. but its difficult to capture a picture as green as yours.

I think he was asking how you got them to show up so green in the photograph, not how the cat got them.

And yeah, like the others said, awesome photo!
