Well, the ice cream truck just went down the street with its music going!

I just remembered one of my traditions back when I was teaching. I always read aloud to the class a short story that I got out of a Reader's Digest Book many years ago. The story was "On That Night."

It's clear and cold and I have the evening to my self. Plan to watch TV and eat some chocolate.

DH and I are suitably stressed out after he left his shopping to the very last minute, then discovered the mall shut at 5pm today.
And I am super annoyed because I lost a giftbag that a client gave me.
Last I remember, it was in the car as I came home. I think I must've dropped it between here and the parking lot and someone took it.

Quiet, cold and rainy. We didn't go out for Chinese because of the weather. I made Lake Superior whitefish and some squash. Home made apple-cranberry pie for dessert. We're going to exchange gifts and watch a movie.

Hubby and I are enjoying the Pinot Griggio that my SS sent. I made a chicken veggie pasta bake (low cholesterol) for dinner and hubby and I are each on our respective computers and I am also watching the Bond, James Bond marathon on Spike.

Dh and I are off to in laws for dinner in a little bit, also to take the gifts for tomorrow. Then tomorrow we go over for the whole family ordeal.
Thankfully this year I'm not stressed and I'm not sick(yet) so I can deal with everything hitting in two days.
When we get home, I plan on having a glass of wine to help me sleep.

Happy Holidays everyone!

The kids are over at the future in-laws house, LOL (his girlfriend, her best friend), and hubby and I are watching the Grinch. I made a really good Weight Watchers recipe - layered Mexican chicken - for us to eat in a bit.

We've had a nice Christmas Eve so far. We went to the five o'clock Christmas Eve service then we found a nice Steak House that was open, I had Lobster Pot Pie, YUM! Then we rode around and looked at the Christmas lights.

Pretty quiet one for me, it is snowing here (imagine that) so I was sitting by the window for awhile watching that, it looks quite cool with all the colored lights on the houses across the street.
Now I am finishing up a couple of things online then going to watch Criminal Minds and CSI New York before calling it a night.
Hope everyones holiday wishes come true.

We've had a nice Xmas eve. We left work early and got to my parents' house at 6:15ish. My mom made vodka penne ... SO GOOD. Then my mom, brother, Rob and I went to look at a house with every inch covered in lights and decorations. Rob didn't like it so much - said it was too much. It was crazy though - all that stuff had to cost more than the house itself!!

Now we're about to watch either Wall-E or Tropic Thunder (I've heard better things about Wall-E), then go to bed and SLEEP IN

DH came home early from work with the sniffles. He got paged just as we were starting to make dinner so I made the raisin/portobella mushroom stuffed pork tenderloin myself, served with a side of fried plantains and steamed broccoli. It was really yummy!

Then as we sat down to open presents (yes, we do that Christmas Eve), his pager goes off again. But eventually he finished and we opened all of our presents to each other. Big score here with music (as is typical). I'm listening to a 1928 recording of Mississippi John Hurt right now.

I gave him some cold medicine and he passed out on the sofa. Poor guy - I hope the pager doesn't go off for the next 24 hours. I'm waiting for the neighbor to stop by with the ham that we are smoking for him for tomorrow. We have to get it on the smoker by 9AM tomorrow.

And I will probably be dead asleep in another hour.

quiet one, here. went to church @ 1pm, worked the 3pm service in the nursery, ran by my folks' house to leave presents for tomorrow, give my dad his birthday gift [his birthday is 12/26] & pick up some stuff mom got as 'teacher gifts' that she didn't want/couldn't use. gave dad 2 Chet Atkins CDs & a batch of peanut brittle [his favorite homemade candy]. they gave me a tool for Christmas - a Black & Decker Alligator Lopper. now i can cut down larger limbs & small trees!

then back home - new DirectTV receiver had arrived. plugged everything up - still nothing but snow on the TV [been that way since saturday afternoon
] so they're sending out a guy next wednesday [my choice - going out of town on friday, won't be back till tuesday].

then i started on the cheese cookies i'm making for tomorrow [already finished the toffee for tomorrow & the sopapilla cheesecake for saturday]. i have 1 more pan to bake after the 2 in the oven are done - so about 1 more hour of baking.

We missed our chance for looking at lights, probably. We usually get all bundled up and I put on a Santa hat that has a built-in beard, and we drive the hot rod up and down the streets looking at lights. It looks a little bit like a sleigh!
