I'm am so sorry for your loss - Milo was a beautiful little guy. I do believe animals grieve, so I second the suggestion to sit down with Nora and just tell her what happens....she'll probably understand more from your tone of voice and body position than your words, but I think she'll understand something. And, I think getting her, and your home, a new kitten will probably be a good idea. Will never be another Milo, but may help to fill up some of the void you're all feeling.

This time of the year is hard on shelter cats, so if you can save one, please do.

Poor Nora, and your son, will need some special kitty to fill the cat-shaped holes in their hearts.
That was such a freak tragedy - it must mean that Heaven really needed an extra special boy kitty for some little person who has crossed over RB.
Sending prayers and vibes for comfort and healing out to you all

Hello,

I am sorry about what you are going through. Three years ago, I lost a kitten in a similar accident, and felt very guilty about it. Like someone has said in a previous post, had you known this would happen, you would have prevented it, of course. But how could you imagine something like that could happen? Kittens are like young kids, and accidents happen.

Hugs,

Nath.

I am so sorry for your loss!! I was actually reading a reply to something you posted on another thread and noticed the picture of Milo.. I was thinking what a beautiful kitty so I clicked on his picture to find out more about him.. I was reading all the things he liked to do etc.. and was shocked to see that he passed yesterday.. and then came to this thread to learn of the horrible accident.. as devastating as this was beyond your control... slowly over time remember the good memories because it is definitely not the accident that defines him.. I had my Nina for less than a month before I had to put her down ... it is so hard, and unbelievable how attached you can get in such a short time. After Nina I fostered Audrey until she got adopted.. and adopted Snow.. although Snow can never replace Nina, she definitely has helped me get through it all and it feels good to know that Nina's passing allowed another kitty to have a home!
