Gotta Love Dick Cheney

I will miss that man.

Quote:
Vice President Cheney mocked Vice President-elect Joe Biden's grasp of the Constitution, defended former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and said President Bush "doesn't have to check with anybody" before launching a nuclear attack.

me too, Cindy.

His "revelation" that the "powers that wish they were" in Congress approved of the so-called illegal wiretaps probably shocks many people.

I love his tough, blunt talk Neet. I just cannot abide wishy-washy people.

And now we get Biden, anyone want to take bets that the office of the Vice President will get much less important on the 21st of January?

I will certainly not miss seeing that mirthless, crooked, nefarious looking half smile of his.

If it wasn't for Halliburton and Bechtel's corporate power, I doubt Mr. Cheney would have gotten where he was.

Ahhhh yes, Halliburton, the phony connection people talk about that has been proven to have been ended years ago. LOL

At least Cheney knows that there wasn't any TV in 1929 and that it was Herbert Hoover who was POTUS in 1929 not FDR. Heck, I even knew that.
Then he gets elected and runs out and buys a puppy from a Puppy Mill.
Ahh Joe. I have a sneaking suspicion we won't hear much from him in the next four years.

I am hoping that Cheney becomes a part-time Fox News contributor/analyst like Karl Rove.

OK, I'll give Cheney the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps he isnt "stuck" in the early Cold War sixties, but in the early eighties. Anachronism, thy name is C-H-E-N-E-Y.
Begone! His attempt to make the Bush administration's legacy legitimate is rather pathetic.

Bush's legacy is legit. I don't agree with all Bush has done but I like how we haven't been attacked again and I like how he and Cheney are NOT appeasers. I just cannot abide appeasers.
I think we'd have been even better served the last 8 years if Cheney was POTUS and W was VP.

Strangely enough, I agree with that But then, we might not have had "Bushism's".

Frankly, I hope the door hits his behind hard as he leaves. He has done more to advocate and undo our founding fathers work in checks and balances of the three branches of our government than any one person in our countries history. He believes the executive branch does not have to answer to anyone and basically said as much. It is interesting to note that Nixon was demonized for saying if the President did something that it was not illegal and Cheney took that ball and ran with it. Sorry I won't miss him at all.

Then he gets elected and runs out and buys a puppy from a Puppy Mill. HUGH??, Where'd you get that? Did they even HAVE pupply mills in 1929?.......... Doubt it! Most people in those days owned pit bulls or Heize 57's.I have a sneaking suspicion we won't hear much from him in the next four years. THANK COD for THAT!

I am hoping that Cheney becomes a part-time Fox News contributor/analyst like Karl Rove.

I'll never forgive Cheney for putting the best fighter the United States Navy has ever had- past, present or future- into retirement.

Ummm, I was talking about Biden getting a pup from a mill, not FDR.

Oh yes, I do listen to Fox, the Fair and Balanced Channel, no MSNBC for me, don't like Olbermann and his ilk.

BTW, Hillary Clinton's campaign stated that Fox News was the most fair network out there. She was talking about the campaign.

Bob Beckel, Geraldine Ferraro, and other liberals are regulars on Fox.

I give the drive by media no credence whatsoever, there hypocrisy and bias was glaringly apparent during the campaign. Some people may like that, I'm not one of them.

I still find it mind boggling that anyone can watch or read a single news outlet and think they have the story.

OK, it wasn't clear who was being referenced in the post. Sadly, many people are still unaware of where puppies come from in a great many pet stores. Grrrr, shame on Biden for not knowing better!

When someONE or someTHING constantly drones in my ear that they are 'Fair & Balanced' it immediately sends up red flags as to their sincerity or their actual intent.

BTW, Hillary Clinton's campaign stated that Fox News was the most fair network out there. She was talking about the campaign.
I never heard that one.

Bob Beckel, Geraldine Ferraro, and other liberals are regulars on Fox.
Regulars? Really? Do the hosts really let them talk or are they like O'Reilly and Hannity who only let them go so far before cutting them off at the knees or cut their mics or start yelling at them, before spewing all sorts of their conservative dogma. On second thought, no, they wouldn't do that to Geraldine Ferraro but, Bob Beckel, I don't know who he is. Never heard the name before. Maybe he's one of those 2nd. or 3rd. tier rather inarticulate liberals that Fox can freely & easily beat up verbally, as they are wont to do.

I give the drive by media no credence whatsoever, there hypocrisy and bias was glaringly apparent during the campaign. Some people may like that, I'm not one of them.
Hmmm, 'Drive By Media', shades of Rush Lindbaugh! He spews that term constantly and judging by his callers, many of them have dutifully picked up the term and spout his mantra like the good ditto heads they are, which of course was his intent all along. Sigh........don't people know when they are being [ahemmm] played?

Yes, Hillary Clinton's campaign did say Fox News coverage of the campaign was the fairest.

Yes, I must be a ditto head because I say "drive by media".

Yes, Beckel and Ferraro are regulars, so is the Reverend Al Sharpton.
And yes, they let them talk. Maybe it would be best to watch for yourself instead of listening to others criticism of Fox.
Hannity and O'Reilly don't cut people's mics, I have never seen them do that.
The only person I have heart O'Reilly yell at is that liar Barney Franks. Barney Franks deserved it for all the outright lies he was spewing about Fannie/Freddi. The guy is a total moron. Barney Franks I mean.

Then you must not watch the show all that much. It only took about 3 minutes with google to find 3 instances of him having guests (Glick, Wright) and co-hosts microphones shut off (Liz Wiehl, his co-host apparently is an associate professor of law and was eating his lunch ), and 16 youtube videos of him screaming, berating, and demanding different guests to "shut up".

And just what is a "drive-by media"?

Ah, so it IS a Limbaugh invention, and as it says in the wikipedia article "real or perceived". I got it

So, do you feel that trying to force an opinion on guests or silence them when that fails is actually something that could be considered journalism?

Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity are on five nights a week and Sean has a weekend show, so he is on 6 days a week. You found a few measley examples, not a big deal to me. I have seen so many guest on O'Reilly try to spin and spin and spin some more, it is pathetic the way many guests spin their fantasies, outright lie, dance around the truth and evade, evade, evade.
Some deserve to be yelled at when they won't shut their mouth and quit their lying.

And whoever said Sean and O'Reilly were journalists? I sure didn't. They are commentators. And I don't feel they try to force their opinion on anyone.

And yes, Rush did coin the phrase, "drive-by" media. I love it, it is hilarious and so appropriate for most of the media.

It only would have taken one example to make this claim completely false

In the few instances, very few, that mics have been cut, WHY were they cut Skippy? You googled it, there must have been a reason for the mics to be cut.

Hey if people don't like Hannity or O'Reilly I really could care less, that is their prerogative. I do take issue with people that act like a person must be a total imbecile to watch Fox, all the while said person is watching Olberman or some hater like him. Some people don't like Fox, personally I detest MSNBC, but I don't make fun of people who watch MSNBC or act like they are idiots for doing do.

Actually, the whys do not make any difference. You said they are not cut, when in fact, they have been.

Now here, we almost agree. But, I watch Fox and MSNBC, plus the good old ABC and NBC networks. I also read everything from the AP to Al Jazeera. I like to be fairly confident that I have the whole story, and not this side, or that side's, spin on a subject.

Yes, I was wrong, but it is rare and warranted, IMO, when it has been done.

Anyway, Merry Christmas Skippy. It is that one day now, you can say it.

Peace and good will to all men.
