Hi -
I was wondering about topical ointments and cats... Any time i apply an ointment on Lucky's skin, she licks right of... I am trying to get her to play with me right after I apply the medicine, so it has some time to get absorbed into the skin.
My concern is not so much the safety, but actually giving time for the meds to make an effect! I was wondering how you guys deal with that?

When I put the ointment on Kizzy, I try to do it before feeding.... He goes and eats, and pays no mind to his lubed up tail.

But Kizzy isn't too interested in his tail right now anyways, could be because it was shaved.

Play, or feeding as a distraction might help.

If I have to put ointment on mine I usually just keep rubbing, working it in until there is no excess medication on. If they lick it after that, they aren't getting that much, if any off.
