My reasoning is if I had a kitty who passed away and went threw the trouble of finding the best pic of that kitty and bringing all those memories of a kitty I will never see or hear again back to the forefront of my mind and then be told that, that pic wasn't good enough for the calander I would be crush and would feel like I failed my RB kitty somehow, but that might just be me. I have RB kitties but only one pic cause they past very long time ago (back when you had to get film developed).
That's actually how I was thinking of doing that month if it's selected. Every picture submitted would be featured that month, since there is no possible way to select a "winner" from a group of animals that means so much to every person who enters.

Just to add to the discussion, I don't think it's possible to please everyone and make it possible for everyone to enter every month. There's a whole lot of categories up there that I wouldn't be able to enter, and many of those are getting a lot of votes! I really just want to come up with the best possible themes that will make this fun for everyone. Yes, it is fun to enter and make the finals, but I have just as much fun looking at all the wonderful pictures from all of our members.

I agree with you

Its one thing if I can't get my cat to pose in a certain way for the theme - but if the theme excludes it is different, IMO anyway.

but then I just chose the themes I knew I could take part in and hopefully everyone else does too

Well, like many people, I take what I get as far as pics of my furkids are concerned. Sometimes, I happen to get something half decent, and occasionally it happens to qualify for an identifiable theme. Does that mean all other themes should be off-limits, just because I haven't managed to catch mine in them? By that reasoning, we wouldn't have Hallowe'en or Christmas dressup pics, because I value my life, so you won't ever see mine dressed up.

Surely, with twelve months in the year, there's an opportunity for everybody to have a go.

I always have the camera to hand ready to take pictures of them doing something, be it drinking, eating, on their back, yawning. That way i nearly always have a themed picture

Can i just say, i think it's a fantastic idea to include the rainbow bridge kitties. Because even though their gone we shouldn't forget them in the calendar

same here - got 5 cats, loads of pix - but there were a couple of months where i didn't feel i had a pic that qualified - like the kitties who help one...

Well Heidi I think you're doing a wonderful job, you can't please everyone.

I know I don't have a 'da bird' and I don't believe in putting things on my cats for christmas or halloween but that just means I'll try my luck at those I can apply for

I'd lose a couple fingers if I attempted to put any costumes on my cats for any time of the year.
2008 we did Scary/Scaredy Cats for Halloween, so this year I'm thinking we'd do something along the lines of cats with Halloween/Fall decorations.

But I think a couple (Catnip Crazies in particular) work better as videos than as still photos.

I'll be interested to see the poll results!

LOL I've got a photo of one of my cats Elmo from about four years ago and he's got nip eyes - someone from TCS sent me the most potent cat nip EVER!!!

I am so happy we're doing this again!!

Even when my job possessed my soul and I fell off the face of the planet, I managed to climb back on just enough to vote for these!
Can't wait to see all the great pics!!

But, wanted to say, I voted first then read all the responses... Is it possible to edit the poll so it says RB kitties will be a collage of all? I didn't vote for that one because I thought there was no way I could choose... But now that I know, I wish I could go back and change it! It is such a sweet idea.

Thank you all for doing this!!

I doubt it ever will. There were months this year when some finalists didn't even vote for their own cat(s) because there were others they thought were better for the theme of the month.

It definitely wasn't this year (2008).
All of the winners were the best pictures (IMO), regardless of whether the person submitting the picture were new members or veterans.

I hope not too. I didn't think it was this year - there was cats that won, or I voted for that I had never even heard of!
