We trapped a kitten who is about 16-18 weeks old - it's a sibling of Jimmy, the kitten I socialised and adopted out recently. Difference is that I trapped him about 9 weeks ago now!

These kittens are used to people being around, and know that people feed them. I was going to just release this girl, but she got spayed today and I looked into her trap, and she was sitting there with her eyes half closed looking relatively relaxed. Most feral cats are wide eyed and freaked out looking.

So we're naming her Jemima, and we're going to have a go at socialising her. If nothing else, she'll get a warm place to sleep for a week or so...

Good luck with Jemima. It sounds like she has the potential to be a real sweetie.

I think she was just whacked out from the anesthetic. She's hissed, spat and growled every time she's seen us since. Hubby got too close to her and she went nuts.

I'm torn. There's 4 kittens at the shelter that need fostering, and I already have a cat in the spare room. I don't think I have the time or space to socialise an already fairly feral kitten...

Sounds like a few I've dealt with. Poor girl.

I can understand how you'd be torn. Time and space can be real concern when their are others that need you. As long as this girl has a safe place to go back to with food and shelter, sounds like releasing her may be the best option.

Sending prayers and vibes that your feral girl does well in whichever situation she ends up in
there are so many kitties who need us, we need to triage, which is such a heart-rendering decision. You are an angel for all that you've done for her thus far

I released the feral girl. She'll be ok. There's plenty of warm hiding places, and she has her two siblings and mother for company - they stick together. I didn't have much hope of socialising her - it's hubby who feels bad for releasing them.

I picked up the 4 kittens today. They are GORGEOUS! It's nice to have sociable kittens
They have diarrhea, so need Albon daily, and I'm going to try some natural tricks to help with the diarrhea (pumpkin etc).

Sounds like a good situation for the little feral girl. I'm glad she has the company her mother and siblings.

Have fun with the kittens. I'm so jealous. I haven't fostered little ones for more than year. Can't wait to see pics of the babies!
