So my cell phone started ringing and it showed that the number was from somewhere in Florida. I don't know anyone in Florida so I ignored it. A few minutes later, the number called again so I answered. It was a pre recorded message that went something like this:
Your Visa (which I do not have) through Home Valley Bank (which I do not go to) has been compromised. Please press one to talk with a customer service agent
I hung up of course. But Curiosity got the better of me so I dialed the number and got the voicemail of something called Rip Tide Software. I thought the whole thing was highly suspicious and that at some point, if I had talked to a "customer service person" I would have been asked to divulge some sort of info.
So I filed a report with the FCC.
Did I over-react?
